We do not celebrate enough why we should be gay.
I think the 5# reason to be gay is why would you want to be anything else? If you are gay, there is nothing you can do about it so why hide it, miss out on it, or try to be something you are not to fit in.
The best reason to be gay is simply because you are!

One huge benefit of being gay is that there are two men in the family to share in the renovations, yard work, washing cars etc. Not only does the work get done faster, but you actually enjoy accomplishing the tasks together.

Most of these reasons are depending on the type of person and not being gay or straight. (i might sound like im shooting these “benefits down, but im just trying to be honest)
These reasons may be benefits for “stereotypical gay people” based on the idea of how gay people are known to act or like. there are plenty of people who dont really care if there is a was of hair in the shower, and there are a lot of gay couples that do have communication problems. these benefits are not truly benefits of being gay because it is not a benefit for every gay person.
also, this whole being yourself thing, being yourself should not even be a benefit, it should be given, why is it that when you are gay, being yourself is a benefit? because being gay is often looked down upon, and you have to struggle to just be yourself. that doesnt seem like a benefit.
guys are hotter than girls? if you are straight you are going to think the opposite.
im done ranting for now though

I would personally still say metrosexual. Personally, I don’t think that all gays are the same [I’m kind of a walking example of being different from the stereotype,] and that only some have that super peppy and flamboyant attitude, as well as the sheik clothing choices. So really, those are /metro/ gays, and therefore I believe should be associated as such.
Having stereotypical straight like qualities [IE: sports, super perverted, beer drinking, etc.] maybe do need a title though, haha. Maybe just butch? Hah, I don’t know.

Hey Davey,
What the #5 reason for being gay would be in my opinion actually #1. Is that through gay sexual interation there is no concern for the possiblity of procreating without making the choice to do so. It is extremely good for birthcontrol. Even within a marriage, I do not believe in any form of birthcontrol controlled by a condom or hormons. It is a way that we can fullfill the needs of our human body with out the concerns of financial burden due to conception. It is a great way for men who even if they are married and have a child or children to control and make the choice to have children instead of “accidents” occuring. I personally feel that “gay” sexual behaviour should be practiced by all people for the endeavor of procreating by choice. It also teaches the ability to be sexual in a healthy and appropriate manner. If you are married it also removes the concern for sexual affairs occuring within the marriage. It also has the ability to make stronger the connections that we have with our families and close friends.

Do we really need reasons to be gay? Seriously? Do people need convincing that one orientation is more preferable than another or even equally preferable? Some people are gay - They’re going to be that way for no reason at all. Some people are straight. Ditto. I don’t see it as any different than being black, white, blonde, brunette, or whatever. It is what it is - a sexual preference.

Like I said on youtube, I really don’t like this video. Again, I know it’s supposed to be crude, but it’s pushing boundaries. Especially the hair one and the communications one. All kinds of hair can be problematic, and the only REAL difference in communication is the whole “I’m built with testosterone” and “I’m built with estrogen”, as well as maybe a couple of topics the other gender just couldn’t relate to. But otherwise, I think it’s basically the same in any kind of relationship, whether it be hetero, homo, pan, etc.
Sorry Davey, I really love you and your thoughts, but this was just in bad taste in my opinion.

The number 1 best reason to be gay is that you get to see what other people are really like. That is, their response to your “gayness” will show you a lot about how they really are. Unfortunately, it shows you that most people really suck ass. And that allows you to feel so superior, if you choose.

Although i think most of this is rather funny and mostly farce-full i sincerely agree with you in this aspect. when you come out to people you know weather or not they really are your friends, fortunately no-one I’ve thought of as a good friend has ever had any kind of problem with me being gay and although I’m not out to everyone i want to be (including my parents) i don’t think any of my good friends would stop loving me because of it, although i am worried about my parents.

one major thing i contend with are stereotypes-why in my gay social group can it be assumed that i would not like sports-individual or team.saturday afternoons for me-its college football-sunday afternoon-nfl football-tonight its Red Wings Hockey-plus Cincinnati Bearcats vs West Virginia-then i have soccer to contend with later this weekend.yes there are five-maybe more reasons and advantages to being gay-but nr1 for me is not playing into stereotypes.—-as in a previous blog entry above-one advantage to being gay-is to bug the crap out of the Homophobe Governor-Carcieri of Rhode Island-a letter or postcard using choice words-will satisfy me.the thing about the hair clogging the tub can work for men and women-str8 or gay-so-i dont get that one.
