I’m an Antisexualist Antibliosist Antifoodist.

The other day, a blog buddy e-mailed me about his participation in the antisexualism movement. Having never heard of antisexualism, I did some research and discovered:

In pre-modern times, antisexualism was usually expressed in religious terms, but it now also occurs as a secular social reform agenda. Most antisexual people believe that sexuality is a kind of addiction resulting in both physical and social effects, that it disrupts relationships, and causes people to lie and cheat to achieve the pleasure of sexual gratification.

Clearly, sex can become an addiction. I’ll bite. So, let me follow this same logic and apply it to the other potentially addictive areas of my life.

Alcohol and drugs can become addictive, but since I partake in neither, this is easy to check off the list. Food is also addictive, and to that end, I’m now a practicing antifoodist. Because food can become addictive, I’ve decided to live a life without it.

Pets can be addictive, too. Just ask Barbara and Robert Woodley of Sanford, North Carolia. Authorities discovered 300 s**t-scented dogs living in the Woodley’s feces-infested home. So, I’m giving up my dog, Chipotle, to live a pet-free existence; I don’t want to end up like the Woodley’s.

The gym is out. The possibility of exercise addiction is all too real.

Of course, the books have to go, too. Bibiliomaniac Stephen Carrie Blumberg raided the archives of 185 North American universities. When the feds finally honed in on Blumberg’s home in Ottumwa, Iowa, they discovered 28,000 stolen books and manuscripts that he had been hoarding. Goodbye, Deepak and Wayne Dyer! No more reading for this antibibliosist.

But wait! Hark! Here’s an idea: Maybe living an addiction-free life isn’t about riding yourself of anything that could cause addiction. Because pretty much ANYTHING can be addictive. Even drinking water (yup, aquaholics anonymous). Maybe it’s about being responsible and reasonable, and striking a balance of enjoyment without becoming dependent. Certainly you can enjoy a glass of wine without becoming an alcoholic, or eat a cheeseburger without reaching for 10 more. Maybe it’s about balance.

And if your enjoyment of pets, books or sex does lead to a true addiction – maybe it’s about seeking out professional help to set you back on the straight and narrow.

At any rate, I don’t think the risk of becoming addicted to something (drugs excluded, wherein the risk is often a certainty) is reason to withdraw from some of life’s most wonderful treasures. Sex included.

  1. I think trying to be an addiction-free person is an addiction in itself.

  2. ‎:O Davey dont give up Chipotle she adorable and when she’s gone you will feel a gap where you would take her for a walk, or play with her

  3. You sound like a fanboy of sex. You are way to obsessed with sex and nudity. Honestly I have stumbled accross blogs by you and blogs by another guy, a freaking gay porn star called Brent Corrigan, and you are the one who I find truly disturbing.

  4. And the Davey Wavey addiction, how would you call it?

Also, what’s the cure when you realise that you can’t stop reading is blog and stearing at him?

    Just asking ;)

  5. at first i thought you were serious but as i continued reading i got what you meant and what abe said has truth in it as well

  6. Very intuitive (there I go stating the obvious…again). I find it hard to believe that people are so weak willed that they cannot focus and have to give up something all together. Mind you I understand giving up alcohol and drugs but sex is what humans were made for. Go forth and multiply and all that jazz.

  7. Davey is only disturbing if you are disturbed by truth, common sense, and humour. If that is the case, then he is offensive indeed.

Personally, in a world of PC nonsense, Davey is one of the brightest spots in any day.

  8. I’ve vowed “No Sex” until love. That being said, I am addicted to oral sex and kissing. They are my faorite parts of sex, and of course the person whom I can share this with.
No sex works when you derive no pleasure from it. Asexuality is a growing movement/lifestyle.
To avoid addiction, one has to be aware of what they are doing and have the capability to control themselves before, during and after the activity. I just got drunk the other day. I’m no alcoholic. Though I drank the week before, I stopped before getting to bad. Plus I only get drunk two to three times a year. More so for the sake of doing it. I guess it’s like really enjoying a high every once in a while. I don’t do it to escape, but rather to soar. When I comeback down, I’m still me. (I don’t do drugs outtside of alcohol.)

  9. By the by, I am definitely a hydrohaulic. Proper hydration leads to Happy!

  10. NOOOOO you could never give up Chipotle, who would co-host your shows :-)

  11. I agree more people should strike a balance and find a harmony in their life. However I’ll disagree on chemical addictions as they are not just about will power.

  12. i think antisexualists are just afraid of their own sexuality. the whole point of earth is to enjoy the physical.

  13. This is very thought provoking. I thought you were serious as well, but I understand what you are saying. You can’t give up everything single thing in life, just because it can become addicting. You have to take it all in small doses, and also let certain things go that you know will becoming addicting once you start doing it.

  14. I meant *every single thing in life*, lol.

  15. Okay I am back but only to say a final good-bye. This Thursday I will be leaving for Rome for 3 months for speech therapy. I have had time to reflect on many things that have happened here on this blog the last few months. Even though no gay man wants to be harassed and persecuted by a few other gay men, I think most of it was not to cause intentional pain on me. However some were intentionally hurtful and were the assholes. I am not a politically correct person or do I have much time or patience for those who are politically correct.

I do wish you all especially DW much happiness and success in the future.

And I thank the friends I have made along the way.

    Ciao-Davide

  16. I push the “say it” button before I was through…. DW-thank you for your inspiration and I think you do help many gay men. Many gay men are isolated and they need a site as this to help them on their journey. Even though I have disagreed with many of your post and your New Age-relativism you are a kind and old soul. This is good peace, Davide

  17. I believe we should enjoy life and all the special moments that come our way, without worrying about what comes the next day or if something could possibly turn into an addiction. At the same time though, we should be mindful of what we do, so we can avoid any potential problems or stress.
Basically: Think before you leap, but having fun doing it!

  18. It’s almost a risk of certainty to become addicted to drugs … Very generalised statement … Anything can be a drug, love included.

  19. Hum…. I think that blog buddy just want to stop himself from having multiple sexual encounters..

It’s hard not to have sex.. However, i saw a segment on the OPRAH show where they documented these sisters (nuns), and they talk about being virgins and such and such…. Following, one of the sisters made a really good analogy: take chocolate for example you crave for it, but you dont have to eat it..

I think: you dont have to be “antisexual” or be asexual… You just have to limit yourself.. Hold back on your feelings towards it.. Find something else to do… I can honestly say we men are made to have sex. It’s in our nature.. Especially gay men, we just love having sex… There’s nothing else to it…

  20. Where do you find the images for some of these posts? This is hilarious, but cringe worthy.

  21. Life is always about balance, balancing everything. Speak your mind, but not to much. have a drink, but not too much. It’s good to do exercise but not too much. Eat healthy but still you need sugar and salt. In life you have to find the balance.

  22. My specialty is addiction medicine and find this posting of particular interest. There are many kinds of addictions, sex included. However, to be brief, anything in balance can be a good thing. Hence I believe the issue of pedophilia among Catholic priests is the result of sexual frustration.

Bottom line: be healthy, love and be caring. But to spread one’s self around can be damaging. I find that a monogamous relationship where love can deepen with time is the most satisfying.

  23. “straight” and “narrow”….hmmm. No thank you…

  26. Ciao, Davide. Say Hi to Benny for us in Roma.

    Be well, et bon voyage,

  27. For those that might be interesting: my specialty is prosecuting pedophile priests. There was a comment made earlier that addresses this problem as sexual frustration. Even though partically correct I feel there is a greater problem than a sexual addition or the result of antisexuality.

In the past most young candidates for priesthood said “yes” to celebacy before going through puberty. They didn’t know what they were saying “no” to. Most attended a diocesan school where their role models were men of the cloth.

After ordination many continuted stuffing their sexual urges (being str8 or gay) but at some point started acting out sexually in a number of ways. Some even left the priesthood and got married.
The interesting note is that these pedohiles psycho-sexually often (not always) only related to those of a young age much like they were when they became antisexual.

More recent priests from about 15 years ago to present are sexually active with each other from the beginning or even with their older men superiors; thus fast promotions among the ranks.
The added problem is since there is dirt on just about everyone’s hands (even at the very top) the abuse part has been kept secret until recently.

There is a lot of economic pressure on a priest to keep his sexual life private, of course, especially if it’s illegal. They are much like indentured servants. What are the consequences to go against your master/bishop?

Since it’s Cannon Law to protect the Church from scandal at “any cost” bishops (prior to the day of the internet) have recycled priests to other areas or gave them more power by making them pastors. Today it’s more difficult.

Is the problem frustration with priests or the bishops moving them around? http://www.bishp-accountability.com does a good job explaining the specifics.

  28. um…another “expert in the catholic abuse scandal”….you claim to be an expert “prosecuting pedophile priest” but yet the link you provide goes no where. The vast majority of these cases and if you are an expert you claim to be you will know I speak the truth. Most of these cases were homosexual abuse. 80.3 percent of these aweful and horrendous crimes were done at the hands of gay priest on teenage boys. Also the bishops who covered it up were also mostly homosexuals. Good cop coverning bad cop. They had a brotherhood you could say. Most of the abusers were from the seminaries that actively promoted and defended the gay lifestyle…but you being an expert you would know this.

It is my desire and that more will come to light regarding this scandal and if necessary I wish that every Catholic diocese would go broke paying the settlements if it means not another child is harmed. The bishops traded these abusers like they were trading baseball players..here you can have one of mine if I can have one of yours. The lack of moral leadership within the American Catholic Church was the underlying problem. Instead of protecting kids they were more interested in protecting themselves. That is why so many devout Catholics (such as me) are pissed off. Its one thing that a grown man would harm a child quiet another when the leadership covered it up. Both are evil.

They say the floor of Hell is paved with the skulls of Bishops and how can we deny such things? These few bishops were evil men but they to were taught in these seminaries. It is the subculture of the homosexual atmopshere in the Church that lead to these abuses. Of course most gay persons are not abusers.

The Church failed because it did a terrible job weeding out those persons who were perverted and had an illness. Lets not confuse pedophile and ephebophila, or hebophilia. All are clinic terms. Most of these abusers were ephobophilia and hebophilia. Ofcourse there were also pedophiles.

your statement about protecting the Church in Canon Law from scandal at “any cost” is a lie.

    All I will say…thanks

  29. Before I leave let me clear one thing up cause so many gay men will take what I said out of context. I am not blaming gays most gays do not go around molesting kids.

The problem with these gay priest and straight priest was lack of sexual maturity. You kinda outlined it. Other words these men were not sexually mature in there minds for whatever reason. They did not see these kids as victims they saw them as equals. That is why so many of these evil men refused to admit their quilt or had shame for their guilt no remorse.

Requied celebacy has nothing to do with harming children. However in the Latin rite of the Church this might have contribute to the abuses. Because the Church was so desperate for priest they simply dropped the ball in weeding out the abusers. I am a gay man. But I firmly believe gay men have no right being priest. I believe the Catholic Church must ask all homosexuals to resign from the priesthood, including bishops Cardinals. Everyone of them should go. I don’t want it to be a witch hunt, but actively open homosexual men have no business being priest. We can see clearly why. In the semanaries and if you are the expert you claim to be many gays who wanted to live chaste lives were pushed and sometimes force to have sex with other gays. If they refused they were ‘black-balled’. Many straight priest and semenarians left the priesthood not because of the required celibacy but because of the underground homosexual atmopshere in the seminaries and diocese.

As gay men we should not be willing to know the facts and these facts are not based on feelings. Many gay men do not like to know the truth about the abuse because they are more afraid what the “straight” world will think…well my friends the “straight” world already knows…

I say gay men should stand up for truth and honor and not hide in secret. We should welcome the truth regarding these evil crimes…not hide from them…after all that would make us no better than the evil men who abused and covered it up…we would also be guilty of such crimes. At the end of the day truth always wins.

Forgive me for calling you a “liar” but your statement is not factual…thanks

  30. Davide give it a rest and move on already. Your constant defense of the church is annoying. You say the same s**t over and over again.

  31. Hey b3n03vil, I would love to party with you
    baby ;)

  32. hi boys
    are you happy today !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    let’s dance so.
    be happy

  33. hey Davide I don’t agree with you all the time, but its been challenging loving you.. as directed by DW..so keep at it (just think before you bite or provoke hey!)and come back soon!

  34. In my experience, all addictive and compulsive behaviours have chemical components. Whether I am ingesting the chemical on which my body becomes dependent or whether my body is producing those chemicals as a reaction to stimuli, all these behaviours have that in common. I believe it involves much more than will power and I also believe we can overcome any of these things given the right counselling, training and experience.

  35. Davide,

You are passionate and self-expressed. I love to read your posts as you often provoke me into thinking in ways I might not have thought. I see, too, that you often pick fights with people because their opinion differs from yours or you feel attacked because they’ve written something against the Faith. You might serve yourself better to take a step back from the situation and allow people to hold and express their opinions whether you agree or not. Choose your battles wisely. Don’t take offence at the things people write just because it conflicts with your beliefs. Just because they write it doesn’t make it the truth and your vehement attacks on people’s posts just highlight them more. What you resist persists.

When you feel confronted by something someone wrote, ask yourself “What’s behind this?” I.e., what value or belief does this person hold that has him say these things? As St. Francis might advise you, seek first to understand.

I was once passionate as you are about the Church and about my faith. And I was also frustrated with people and situations because I couldn’t stand it when anyone expressed something that contravened my faith. I grew and matured (much as fine wine does) and I realize now that I am far less frustrated when I can just let people and things be as they are; when I stop resisting and stop insisting that my views are right. I know they’re right for me and I have faith that other people’s beliefs are right for them. God gave us the right to choose what we believe and we certainly do use that to the fullest :)

You are a wonderful person. I know this. And you are young and (much like fine wine) unbalanced. You won’t like that I say this and that’s fine. You may even take it as an attack and that’s fine too. I don’t mean it as an attack but as an observation from someone who’s been there, too. In time your intensity will subside a little to the vibrant, rich, bold, full, sweet flavour that belies it. It’s all in there but not quite ready to shine through.

    Be well. Good journey. Godspeed.

  36. I agree. My reply was not clear on that. Just intended to say chemical addictions are more than just telling yourself don’t do that.

  37. Drugs give me an headache, so there is no danger for me there. As for food, well, I live according to the standard, “I eat to live; I don’t live to eat”. (I get fat enough, despite that!)
