I decided to try something different with my second YouTube channel, DaveyWaveyRaw, and record a 4-minute guided meditation. Let me know what you think. Are you into it? Is it ridiculous? Do you want more of these – maybe something you could listen to on you iPod or iPhone? At any rate – it was fun to make, so hopefully you’ll enjoy it on this beautiful Saturday!

Please please please do more, I think we all need some meditation in our lives
May 15, 2010 at 11:18 am
That was really good! Thank you so much!
May 15, 2010 at 11:26 am
DW, how we suppose to meditate when you talking through all of it? Or maybe that is the point? Great effort and thanks. Found it to be a total bore but I understand it’s purpose. Never got into meditation. But thanks for giving something to those who do. Bravo!

I enjoyed that so much i forgot im in a dark room sitting infront of my iphone when i opened my eyes i forgot what i had been doing in my basement

Your voice is ideal for meditation. You ability to guide visually for a deeper relaxation is excellent. The flowing water helps a person focus on the fluidity of life. Four minutes is a good beginning. Also you may want to add the sounds of flowing water. The background music, pictures and inflection of your voice are well thought out and presented. Excellent! Your voice and body are both stimulating and relaxing.

Wow. I had never really tried any form of meditation and this helped calm me in a way nothing else has ever been able to. And at a point in my life where that is all I need to do – calm down.
Thank you, Davey Wavey. You are a rock star and I feel most blessed to have you in my life.
May 15, 2010 at 12:19 pm
OMG! I cried. Is that weird? I totally felt it. Great job Davey.
May 15, 2010 at 12:46 pm
I liked it I use guided meditations alot I am not to good at meditating cant focus but find with guided meditations i can focus better. My place of peace is a desert pit something like the grand canyon or at least how I imagine it filled with red clay mountains and no one around warm and sunny and breezy I go there often sometimes I am in the bottom of the pit sheltered by the mountains other times I am on top looking over everything.
May 15, 2010 at 1:36 pm
Liked it very much.
May 15, 2010 at 2:37 pm
HEY thanks Davey! I felt like I was levitating. Had I not had my feet on the ground, that feeling could go through my entire body. I’m gonna try to do this more often. Keep it up:)
May 15, 2010 at 2:42 pm
MOAR!!
You have a beautiful voice, Davey
May 15, 2010 at 2:58 pm
Interesting. Admittedly I “watched” it and probably need to just “listen” to it. That said, I would definitely welcome more content like this.

May 15, 2010 at 5:06 pm
You have initiated many of your fans into the peace that comes from meditation. I salute you! Keep it up!
May 15, 2010 at 5:34 pm
DW,
What can’t you do? This was lovely. Yes, by all means do more of these meditations. I will certainly use them. Your calm voice and great music selection lends itself to a very peaceful and ‘still’ experience.
May 15, 2010 at 6:33 pm
Fade the text out if you are going to have a visual aspect to the meditation, if it is an eyes closed meditation, then you don’t need any visual aspect except for that which is generated within your mind.
May 15, 2010 at 8:16 pm
Yeh…. not ur best work. Since you only post something up once a day.. not trying to offend anyone, but that sorta seemed like a waste. You’re obviously really talented. You’ve made lots of other successful posts and vids… Stick to them. They’ve worked for a reason.
May 15, 2010 at 10:35 pm
I wasn’t particularly captivated by this guided meditation strictly because it very much resembled the lead-in to all the meditations in which I’ve participated and all those through which I take my own clients. So for me it didn’t hit the mark. But from the other comments I’m seeing people seemed to enjoy it so good job!
Suggestion for next time: Give the meditation a point or a goal.
Thanks Davey

Just fyi, this works on my iPod touch. Video format is perfect from you blog
May 16, 2010 at 1:08 am
I would listen if you made more especially on my iphone during my break at work, when things get stressful.
May 16, 2010 at 6:08 am
Hey Davey
This is what I have been recomended from my doctor to do. I´m gonna go to painclinic soon too learn to deal with the pain in my neck from a carcrach and this is one way of doing just that. Keep them comming. Some post say that this is not for them and maybee the talking is not so good but make it your own, listen to the music and dream your self away for a few minutes, this what we all need to go about our busy days, keep them comming
Love Björn Sweden

That was beautiful.
Thank you.

Dear Davey,
I love this! I love hearing your voice, in fact, I would love to have a cd full or a bunch of downloads for my iPod
Keep speaking to my soul!
Love you, joey
May 16, 2010 at 6:55 am
Davey,
I enjoyed your meditation sequence although the audio quality was not the best. I agree with Joey above on all 3 of his points: I love hearing your voice; I would love it if you could do an iTunes podcast so I could easily download to my iPod (you would have a ton of subscribers), and I love you.
Thank you,
Frank

Guided meditation is called “guided” for a reason. Someone (let’s call him a guide) is directing your focus and visualization during the session. Your task is to direct your thoughts, visualization, and attention to whatever the guide is suggesting. When done properly, it can be a tremendously relaxing journey that you can go on whenever you feel stressed or the need to get away.
May 16, 2010 at 7:46 am
Your voice is great for a guided meditation. I would like it to be longer and for you to speak slower so it doesn’t feel hurried. Keep up the great work. More. More. More.
May 16, 2010 at 7:56 am
Something we can all use more of, a little peace. Thanks Davy, you’re so sweet.
May 16, 2010 at 7:57 am
But Davide makes a point. Intersperse moments of silence to allow the mind to wander, absorb, and appreciate.
May 16, 2010 at 9:29 am
Thank you That brought back the memory of the first guy I ever really loved and the first time he just held me and I felt completely at one with another person

Jerry, I tend to agree with you re the text. Personally I do not need, but have no problem with the visualization. But some may need it or want it and that’s fine
May 16, 2010 at 11:26 am
Mosaic Dave,
Since I meditate everyday and am quite experienced, I did not find it as good as i would have liked.
I suspect there are some (a lot?) who view this blog, I think it serves as an introduction to the method of meditation and not the “substance” or “content,” what you seem to refer to as “goal.
But Davey, I commend you for presenting it. Some people may not be “into meditation” but it is always (my opinion) helpful to stop all the noise in our lives some time.
May 16, 2010 at 11:30 am
I agree with you David F

I went back to a place I like very much, Gili Meno in Indonesia. Watched the sun rising, felt great.
Merci

Davey,
First, I am happy that you made this meditation video. You should make some more and post them, but not too frequently. You might consider making a series that could be put on a CD or other format that people could turn to daily.
I try to meditate an hour each day, but very few can start out that way. I guess I would call this 4 minute piece a “Centering Moment.” By that I mean a short quiet pause in a busy life to “re-center” one’s self based on a longer meditation earlier in the day or later the night before.
I come out of the apophatic (Sp? w/o visualization) tradition of the Eastern Christian tradition and what is called in the West, “Centering ‘Prayer’.” It has much in common with Buddhist and Hindu approaches.
What you did was elementary but very good!! If you do more, especially, a series, you might want to help people journey deeper into meditation as “spiritual” (not necessarily “religious”) practice. For example the helpfulness of a “Word” and that one important “goal” can be, to be; to be with self and “ultimate reality” however it is named.
May 16, 2010 at 1:09 pm
Davey, love you to death but your voice is not really guided meditation material. I know you have extreme friends but do yourself a favor and not add this to your daily regimant. If you had a voice like mine (deep and soothing)then it would probably benefit your fans. Have a great weekend and remember we love you down here in Houston, TX.
May 16, 2010 at 1:30 pm
Really refreshing! It is raining here in South West Florida and over cast so this was a needed pick up! Wish it could have been longer really got me relaxed. Yes I would like more of these! Thanks!!
May 16, 2010 at 1:55 pm
The goal of meditation is to train the mind to be focused. Guided meditation is designed to tell you what to focus on. If you are being guided, then periods of silence are the opposite of what you want or need because that only encourages the mind to wander which is what you are trying to prevent.
May 16, 2010 at 2:06 pm
I agree, but that would take a bit more than 4 minutes.
The silence is where the most benefit of any meditation occurs.
But for starters it is a good attempt. It takes years of actual practise to become a meditation teacher; to be able to pace the movement between guiding and letting go.
Davey has the makings of a really good teacher. Keep at it and it gets better.
Be well,
May 16, 2010 at 2:18 pm
There is never too much meditation.
Any assistance that one can find in getting into meditating is welcome. We go from teacher to teacher and some eventually become teachers of others. It is perhaps your goal, Davey, to help others to meditate. Only beware of one thing. The ego of the teacher. That is very subtle.
Best is to be your own teacher.
Be well,
May 16, 2010 at 2:30 pm
love your voice davey, this really made me forgot why i went on the compuper in the first place
MORE MORE MORE!
May 16, 2010 at 4:50 pm
I find solace in a nice hot shower, my lover’s arm’s, a gentle hug from my baby brother, walk at 3 in the morning shirtless, shoeless and with with the company of my two dogs. This is my “guided” meditation.
May 16, 2010 at 5:44 pm
Thank you Davey. That was beautiful and nicely done. More please! And longer too.
May 16, 2010 at 6:37 pm
Would rather meditate upon your bare bum.
May 16, 2010 at 6:38 pm
Get rid of the blue headline covering up the nice scenery…but put yourself in the scene meditating nude on a rock…that works.
May 16, 2010 at 8:21 pm
Hmmm, you didn’t even try to spell “your” fully; If you’re going to criticize, could you at least come up with a constructive criticism to help improve what was done?
Thank you, and Cheers!
