Yesterday was Oprah’s annual Favorite Things Show. This year, in light of the economic challenges that so many people are facing, she selected gifts that came from the heart – not the wallet. She shared recipes, music and priceless gifts like memory boxes and letters.
In all honesty, I’d tune in just to hear Oprah say, “My Favvvvorite Thiiiiiiiings!” If you’ve never heard my impression, I’m sure you can dig it up somewhere on YouTube. But I enjoyed this year’s change of pace. It helped me to recenter myself around what this holiday season is all about: Love.
All along, our holiday gifts to each other were meant to be symbols of that love, but somewhere along the way, the gifts stole the show. Maybe this year we can all refocus on the true meaning of the holidays. Chew on that this Thanksgiving.
Oprah may have her favorite thiiiiings. But I have my favorite illusiiiiiions! A few weeks ago, I asked you for the illusions that you enjoy breaking. As promised, I picked my favorites. Congratultions to the winners – each will receive a copy of my 20 Minute Chest & Back Workout. Woot! Woot! It may come in handy after tonight’s turkey and stuffing dinner.
Without further ado, here are some wonderful illusions to break today and everyday:
joey: The illusion I like to break is: Life is complicated. No, you got it all wrong, LIFE IS SIMPLE, we make it complicated.
Dodie: Asians are smart…yeah, I’m Asian and I failed Math miserably.
Dennis: A relationship is a requirement for happiness. Sometimes being single is perfectly great as long as you are content with who and where you are in life.
Chris: You don’t need to wear a mask and armor all the time. Allow yourself to be vulnerable. It takes a hell of a lot more strength than being untouchable.
Bryan: My illusion: When I look in the mirror I think that I can see myself, this is an illusion because it is only when I close my eyes that I can truly “see” me for me l-)
Happy American Thanksgiving, blog buddies! Much love to you and yours.

I completely agree, however I’m glad that my generous grandparents are getting me an iPhone, Nikon Touch Camera, and filming tools such as a green screen. Yay!

Definitely some great illusions to break. I enjoyed the one about having a relationship to be happy, definitely not the case for everyone.

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
LOL!
PS: to anyone who´s not familiar to these lyrics, first, let me tell you you´re probably not gay(uhh, stereotipes!) and, second, it´s Favorite Things from The Sound of Music.

I was away for part of the Thanksgiving weekend and am just catching up with emails. I led a group of 15 family/friends to NYC for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. With us were a 2, 3 & 5 year old. Getting to take in NYC and the parade from the eyes of children was a true blessing and an enlightening experience. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving too. And thanks for the download. Keep up the good work and thanks for allowing us to tag along on your journey. I also consider your site a true blessing and enlightening experience. Thanks.
