go within or go without

Each morning, I receive an email from the universe. Sometimes the universe reminds me that I am the creator of my reality and that the life of my dreams is just a thought away. Sometimes the universe reminds me that the people in my life are teachers and all the so-called “problems” are opportunities for growth and development. Sometimes the universe reminds me that thoughts become things.

On thursday, I received this email from the universe:

Ever notice, David, that in the long run, those who don’t eventually go “within,” often go “without.”

You got the power,
The universe.

Isn’t it true? For the first 22 years of my life, I operated from a perspective of scarcity – that there wasn’t enough to go around and that I had to fight for my piece of the pie. Scarcity is a common perspective in our society.

For the last two years, I’ve looked at things differently.

I know that the bounty of the universe is infinite (be it money, love, dreams, or material “stuff”) – and that no one else is more worthy of its abundance than me (or you, for that matter). And I know that when I do what I love and serve my fellow human beings with love, living abundantly is effortless. Like a hot knife through butter.

When you match your talents with an unmet need in the universe and ask the question, “How can I serve?” – the world is your oyster.

And if the world is my oyster, then Chipotle is my pearl:

  9. Here is some information about our wonderful organization —

Birmingham Boston Terrier Rescue (BhamBTR) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the welfare of the Boston terrier dog breed. BhamBTR takes any Boston terrier regardless of age, temperament, and/or medical condition, and welcomes the re-homing of these dogs. Boston terrier mixes are also an important part of our rescue. All Boston terrier and Boston-terrier mixes are spayed/neutered before placement, vaccinated, and all known medical conditions are addressed and treated as appropriate. Boston terriers are placed in the loving homes of volunteers where they are assessed for personality, and then they are carefully matched to a home that will provide only the very best.

BhamBTR leaves no stone unturned in assuring the best possible future for the adopting family and, most importantly, for the Boston terrier being placed. A lengthy screening and education process is done before an application is approved. An adoption contract is completed, and post-placement follow-up is done. An adoption fee is charged to cover the tremendous veterinary expenses incurred by BhamBTR.

All members of BhamBTR are volunteers who are Boston Terrier owners themselves and are deeply dedicated to the welfare and safety of the breed. Every member of our team undergoes the same screening process that is applied to all potential adopters. Over the course of the past year, our volunteers have driven hundreds of miles across the Southeast to rescue Boston terriers and Boston-terrier mixes in need. BhamBTR volunteers have participated in screening potential adopters and have educated each other in the best ways to care for and train a Boston terrier. BhamBTR volunteers have worked dog fairs and fund raisers to generate donations to help with expenses. Most importantly, though, is that each member has opened his/her home and heart to assist BhamBTR in caring for rescued Boston terriers while they are in foster care.

All medical-care decisions are made by one or more of BhamBTR’s three board members: Donna Farmer, President; Amy Sanford, Vice President; Meredith Warren, Secretary; and Austin Cooper, Treasurer and Webmaster — all of whom have worked with various other rescue organizations prior to the establishment of BhamBTR. We have several excellent veterinarians across the Alabama from which we receive counseling and guidance. In addition, we work closely with sister rescues, Southern Cross Boston Terrier Rescue and Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee, among others. To date, we have individually rescued and re-homed over 150 Boston terriers and Boston-terrier mixes. Our rescue efforts in 2008 will likely double the number of dogs rescued just during the previous year.

We sincerely hope that you will consider becoming a member of our team.

  10. reminds me of what I kinda call my reverse haiku I wrote some years ago if I can remember it exactly

    The world is my oyster
    full of piss and s**t
I eat it whole and raw

and speaking of Mormons they never come to my door. They hit my neighbors apartments and start up the stairs to mine but always turn around. I wonder if it has anything to do with my Buddha statue sitting out there.

  11. have you always been that in shape?
or were you the chubby kid on the playground?

  12. Your “pearl” is quite a treasure indeed. I love those shots of you and her together. Truly a wonderful couple.

Thanks so much for the great insight into the world of going “within”. I hope I never have to go without as my universe is working with me, now more than ever, and the abundance is unfolding with each passing day.

Love and many wishes for happiness and prosperity Dave!

    Ciao – J

  13. “Scarcity is a common perspective in our society”, a way to control people like saying there are not enough dollars, but dollars are not made they are created, look at Bill Gates and what he created. For the last 30 years we have been told how scarce oil is and it will run out soon…but the earth itself creates it continuously.

  15. Do you know how many blog buddies would love to be Chipotle in that first pic, not to mention the second?

  16. Hey Davey Wavey

Ive just checked out your ebay auction and WOW $12,100 for your painting you must be very happy with that.

Seriously though it was gorgeous, you could be a famous artists. Someone likes your work and bid very high.

  17. Hopefully they were REAL honest bids.
After the $560.00 dollar mark the bidding went crazy between 2 bidders, neither of whom, had any history or previouse bidding record.

Looks like a couple of kids having fun, but who knows, it may be a couple admirers who hope to get a cool painting and into Davey Wavey’s shorts with high bids.
