In the movie Eat. Pray. Love., the character played by Julia Roberts made the bold statement that she wants to be unnerved. I understand her desire.
Think – just for a moment – about the times in your life when you learned, grew or evolved. They likely happened when you were outside your comfort zone. Right? As creatures of habit, we cling to that which we know – but the familiar isn’t always the best catalyst for our personal evolution.
Today, I did three things that unnerved me.
First, I peed in the shower. I find this common habit to be terribly repulsive and unsanitary. But I went for it and unloaded a full stream into my shower’s drain. Totally unnerving – and yet maybe a little erotic, too?
Then, I further unnerved myself by shaving my head. Well, almost. I had second thoughts when my Facebook fan page erupted in objections. I didn’t want to start a virtual riot. Nonetheless, it’s very short – and you can see the result in the picture above. It makes me a bit uncomfortable to shave my hair off – I identify with my hair. I’m even attached to it. So to buzz it off and bring awareness to the experience is a beautiful thing.
Lastly, I signed up to volunteer at the voting polls tonight. It’s the primary and I want to put my support behind the pro-equality movement here in Rhode Island. While I don’t want to phone bank, hold signs or the like, I’m going to do it if that’s what is needed. I want to be removed from my comfort zone.
I don’t want to get too comfortable. And, of course, I’m open to your suggestions. If you have any good ideas for unnerving experiences that I or other blog buddies should try, please leave your two cents in the comments below. Maybe we should do a week of unnerving? One thing a day for seven days? Would you do it with me?

Gotta tell ya, man, I’m a little unnerved that you think peeing in the shower, getting a haircut and volunteering at a polling station challenge your boundaries. Those are pretty mundane everyday things. Maybe you could try drinking some Vampire blood or something?

I’m pretty sure Ayn Rand never found herself in a paper bag.. but she did find herself growing up inside Stalin’s Soviet Union.. and she did plot and plan her own escape thru his barbed wire fences. A bit more difficult than a paper bag.. Following her escape, she felt passionate enough about the horrors of Socialism..
Horrors that she witnessed..
that she learned and mastered English so she could spend the rest of her life producing multiple amazing and wonderful works of magnificent Literary Art.. works that are perfectly laid out arguments against Socialist tyranny and the Useful Idiots that promote and enable it.

‘Useful Idiot” being the term coined by Stalin himself to describe the myrmidons of the Left, that enabled him.. to assume power and to crush any dissent, as well as to kill, torture or imprison millions..
estimates of around 60 million.. lives he snuffed out.
His own countrymen.. Murdered.
Plus or minus a couple million..
And on the same topic, lets not overlook the track record of a few of the other well known Socialist Tyrants.. Mao.. over 80 million snuffed out.. Hitler, thru his National Socialist Workers Party.. (aka NAZI party).. somewhere between 50 million to 75 million in WWII.. not counting the 6 million Oven Crispy Jews.. he gave the world to gasp at.. the Khmer Rouge.. over 10 million.. the list is endless.. the count always growing, even in modern times.. North Korea, Cuba.. etc.
All of which are only numbers to the small minded ilk such as appleblommingfraud,. You see, Myrmidons are simply unable to contemplate, relate to, or grasp any of those numbers. Not the horror.. or the suffering.. and especially not the concept that there is a story behind each human that counted as only one of Stalin’s 60 million. Those numbers.. those people.. destroyed by the tyrants that the Useful Idiots enable.. for the most part are ignored, denied or dismissed with the the following unspoken thought:
“OK, sure communism has resulted in over 200 million human deaths during the last century.. but lets give it just one more chance”
Of course they won’t utter those words.. too much of a giveaway.. Instead they go after the likes of Ayn Rand or Rush Limbaugh.. with an unnatural and very special level of hate.. a hate reserved exclusively for those that use intellect and reason to oppose tyranny and promote the idea of the moral superiority of Liberty..
People like Rand and Limbaugh that have the stated purpose and goal of countering the brainwashing effects of the media and the products of our schools.. where most have never heard of Stalin.. and if they have.. don’t really connect him to Socialism.. even while Stalin’s USSR stood for the Union of the Socialist Soviet Republic. The reason applebloomingIdiot, hates Ayn Rand is her commitment to inform and warn the world of the threat that Socialism and it’s Useful Idiots.. pose.
So that the world will never give them..

The fundamental requirement to be a Useful Idiot, is to ignore history, facts and any evidence that exposes the real world of Socialist Tyranny. But Ignoring history is just the beginning. They always Revise and Rewrite it.. distorting and dismissing the evidence of the trail of blood and human misery left in the backyard by the Socialist of the world… The true believers in Socialism can be found throughout most governments, the media, academia and in the brainwashed unthinking types such as appleblommingIdiot.. proving that he like so many others are products of that brainwashing.. The true Useful Idiot is always eager to embrace the willful act of ignorance..
