Congratulations, Davey!
I am from Brasília (Brazil)and U?
"You are already beautiful" was one of the best things I´ve ever heard!
Everybody is special and unique.
Um..I read the other text where you seem quite disapointed about falling in love. Well I do believe in romantic love. I also never dated for too long, because nowadays, relationships happen to be like two people wishing that the other person is exactly what they want. For example, I see my sister complaining about her husband´s clothes...etc
When you fall in love with s.o and have the feeling that you have never existed without that person, you´ll see the difference between passion (it doesn´t last) and true love.
But no matter how good is that love, is not like the love that a mother feels for the son (specially for men!unfortunatelly). It goes away if you don´t keep the flame. It envolves seduction, it is not uncondicional love...i love uncondicionally, because i am veery romantic...but most people ain´t, that´s the reality...
lol! best wishes!

Perhaps. But a friend of mine (she's in her 70's, I'm in my 50's) get a kick out of the next hot mess Vanna White comes out in. Does that really make us shallow?

I knew a guy who was in his early to mid 20's. He was completely bald and completely hot. He kept getting upset when people touch the top of his head (they want to feel the smoothness)He was a major gym rat and told me about being creeped by this guy who was staring at him. I said, 'So. I'd say he has good taste.' He said to me 'I don't know if you noticed but not even the nice girls I allow too touch my head and I don't even let family members do it but I let you" I said, "Isn't life grand Julian."

So you "don't have a chance" When you see him walking down the street and you look over your shoulder and he looks back. I'd say you have a chance. I had (and still do) have an undiagnosed skin condition that boggles my Dermatologist's mind and mine also. Yet cute young guys were leaving their girlfriends (and boyfriends or maybe just friends that happen to be a boy)to kiss me with my scratchy skin on New Year's eve. So to quote a corny line from a song "Everyone is beautiful in their own way..."

I've been told by the plastic surgeon to the stars that the most common procedure a male requires is a calf implant. I've told my share of people this and guys have told me you would think they would rather do something about their pecs as it seems there is not a guy out there who would want to fool with anything but that. I agree but vanity comes in all forms I guess. I met the late Jacques Cousteau when he was in his 80's I saw him once in a speedo. Let's just say he's got game and leave it at that. I met him later in a movie theater in Santa Monica we talked in the lobby for longer than the running time of the movie we just saw. Friends of mine and total strangers said 'Do you KNOW who you're talking to?" "I'm getting to know him now," I said. He asked, "Aren't you going to introduce me to your friends?" A classy beautiful Frenchman probably made me blush, but my friends reminded me I don't blush and I didn't then. I should have. I was embarrassed big time. So Jacques Cousteau was banging in his orange speedo in his 80's, so Davey you can't?

no offense Davey , but it's kinda easy for you to say , you're not exactly the typical case of someone who's not too pleased with how they look.

Try being me who whatever he does feels like he'll never be able to shed off the pounds and feels like he'll have a gut for all his life , has early signs of losing hair at 26 years old and is somewhat short.

Not tell yourself that you're "beautiful" again.

That's what i thought.

I think its a little condescending and easy for Davey to suggest that "everyone is beautiful".

I just can't see that he ever had any real problems dealing with self esteem and poor body image.

Even if davey didn't work out that much (its obvious that he only works out at an average rate of 4 times a week for general maintenance) he'd still be naturally beautiful.

Sometimes - nature, god, the universe, whatever, deals a BAD hand.

Its not up to people with the luck of genetics to make the rest of us below average people feel better about ourselves.

DWs thoughts on this subject mirror others as well.go to youtube-guys relentlessly critique their bodies and others.they look for strong points and weak points-and where to improve.guys obsess just as much as the women.on youtube or blogs you can obsess to detail and remain anonymous-but it must go public for others as well.supplements and the like-thats why they sell so well.my neighbour buys them by the whole carton.and it shows.his girlfriend obsesses about him-it gets contagious with all of us.

i agree with you but that ugly 40 yr old is very happy and content with the way he looks and the way he feels....in fact he is feeling like a million bucks.
meanwhile the 22 yr old could have low self esteem and a
horrible personality.

if i have to choose, i would befriend the old one and be
enlightened
not the doushebag 22nd yr old

The 10inch donut puncher has me cracking up too. lol It makes me think of the Family Guy episode when they figure out Chris has a huge floppy cock and Lois tells him to go to the 10 inches or less line at the Stop and Shop. HA Anyway.

Shahrab, I know what you mean and agree with you for the most part. But there are definitely exceptions to all the rules. A friend of mine is only attracted to guys at least 10 years older than him. I thought he was attracted to me and found out he had the hots for my 40 year old older brother. HA

I want to believe that although there are some stereotypes of hot, and that gay guys are attracted to the hottest, but I don't think it is the rule. In fact I believe attraction is a bizarre thing that can't be explained that easily. i have seen many hot hot guys that I"m simply not attracted to. I've even tried the sex thing with them and believe it or not, just wasn't into it. It doesn't mean they weren't good enough. It just means that there wasn't very much chemistry.

There's only been a few people that I had that amazing feeling when I saw them, that made me do a double take. I usually know pretty quickly if there is true attraction. I can feel it when I hold their hand, when we hug, by the way we connect eyes, and most definitely in the first kiss.

So true beauty is as Davey describes it. When you have the connection with them, you see that much more beauty.

There’s only been a few people that I had that amazing feeling when I saw them, that made me do a double take. I usually know pretty quickly if there is true attraction. I can feel it when I hold their hand, when we hug, by the way we connect eyes, and most definitely in the first kiss.

So true beauty is as Davey describes it. When you have the connection with them, you see that much more beauty.

God loveth the righteous, His goodness is sure,He never forsaketh the good and the pure;
Yet once my faith faltered, I envied the proud,In doubt and disquiet my spirit was bowed.

Despising God's people, they cause them to drain The cup of oppression, injustice, and pain; They question God's knowledge and boldly defy The might and the justice of God the Most High.

I went to God's temple: my doubts were dispelled,The end of life's journey I clearly beheld; I saw in what peril ungodly men stand
With sudden destruction and ruin at hand.

This is a beautiful post dear Davey but I have a question. If you go to a club and see two people
1) Mr. X with a super-beautiful mind, smart but at the same time 40 years old, 160 cm height with 90 kg weight, balding, big nose ...
2) Mr. Y a 190cm tall, smooth, blond, 22 year old, but with a pretty shallow brain,
in the first glimpse (you know neither of them in advance) will you even bother yourself to look at Mr X for a second time?

Reality is that, some stuff are a bit painful to accept but they are facts. Million years of evolution made us to go after traits which we call (beautiful traits), the main reason is that those characteristics are signs of having better genes and better genes means more chance to pass your own genes down if you mate with someone holding those beautiful genes). In the case of gays like us, perhaps we are not going to pass any gene in a gay relationship but still we have those circuits hard-wired in our brains. I can say it is a evolutionary miss-firing for us, but that's that ;)
Still I think your post is quite nice and can be true in some cases but you went a way to far my dear friend :)

I think your positivity is great and very inspirational. However, it is easy for you to say to love yourself with all flaws included because you are in fact very physically attractive! :P

A great post that ties up with what I am thinking about right now - I wonder why I am workingout at the gym, trying to improve my body - is it because I want it to look better or that I think others will appreciate it more? At least I know one person thinks it must be beautiful already :-)
