Live your questions!

When I wake up before the sun, my mind wanders to life’s greatest questions and more difficult mysteries. Who am I? What am I doing with my life? Where am I going?

With the sun just breaking above the horizon, it’s one of those mornings.

In my world, the answers to these questions are beyond my reach. I imagine a stack of antiqued, leather-bound boxes with over-sized padlocks to which I don’t have the key. Or a hallway of doors without door knobs.

I can’t access the answers.

And probably for good reason. If I knew the answers, I’d probably be unable to behold them or appreciate them – or else, unable to live them. I’ve tried to find the answers, but unlike knowledge, wisdom is not so easily learned. Wisdom is lived.

And so I think that’s the point: live. Live the questions.

When and if the time is right, the answers will come. And as it turns out, the answer will probably be much less significant than the journey it took to get you there.

  1. Good Morning.
Are you and I the only ones up this morning? I guess that’s my only question, LOL.
Just wanted to give you a HUG and say I enjoy your blog and video’s.

    Good Morning!
If you read these responses from your readers..you may notice I am not one of the people that reply every day..and if you wonder why…there is a reason..Do you even read what you write before posting it?…You are so..”over the top”..way OUT there somewhere..and I am beginning to wonder if you need help of some sort..or are just running OUT of topics to write about…Maybe it is time to regroup..stop posting daily messages for awhile..and just show the pics you take..You are a better photographer than a writer..Think about it!..At least give your daily posting a rest!
    Love David

  3. Thank you, David, for not replying to these posts every day. We can do without your negative comments.

And for DW, keep up the great work that you do!

  4. Buongiorno,

DW your mind think very fast and so early. I wake up all I can think about is my first cup of coffee. My brain doesn’t kick in till after the first cup at least, sometimes two.

Sometimes DW I think some questions can’t be answered, not all come to us. Even when we search and search still no answers. We take it in the chin and move on. Grazie, Davide

  5. David. Do you have a blog? Are you not the same David that accused DW of lying. If his post bother you why you come? Better yet on your own blog counter DW post with your own idea, you can become the anti-davey wavey.

  6. Dear Dave,
I love all the little things you do!! I love the comments and videos you share with us. At this moment, I am running out of liveliness and your words let me think that this is a temporary state of mind and that I will finally get out of this awkward feeling of emptiness, I cannot bear it anymore…
To my own surprise, last night I dreamt you and me were together in a public toilet… I was sitting in the lavatory and you got closer to me and started doing to me something naughty… hahaha… I did not make it up… I will go on telling you the rest of my dream… I was so astonished that we were in the same room since I live in Spain and the sexual features of the dream… hehehe… All of a sudden I was topless and you were licking my nipples and touching my breasts eagerly… Well, I already said it… I am sorry if someone has not liked my comment, But I needed to share it with Dave.
    Thanks for your spontaneity,
    María Ángeles

  7. What is this David Day!!!!
I do get what DW is talking about…..answers to life’s questions come to us through the journey we take. We cannot get answers out of books or from ‘prophets’, but books and prophets help us along the way.
Then, when we ‘realize’ an answer, we admire how simple it is…….how difficult the journey may have been.

  8. As I get older, I have found that life is much simpler and expected than it was when I was a teenager. When I was younger I always found that life was difficult, frustrating and depressing at time because the things I wanted to do with my life weren’t possible or I knew they weren’t going to happen.
Now that I am in my late 30′s, I have learned that the things in life you want, won’t happen but the things you need, will. There is a distinct difference and once you figure that out, life is easier. So when someone senior to you says that everything in life happens when its right, that’s what they are meaning.
Yes, Keep your eye on the locked boxes or doors with no nobs but dont dwell on them because then you will miss the other beautiful things in your life.

  9. Davey, Thought you or some blog buddies might appreciate this quote afrom great poet. It’s one of my favorites:

“…be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart.
Try to love the questions themselves…
Do not seek the answers which cannot be given you
because you would not be able to live them.
    AND THE POINT IS,
    TO LIVE EVERYTHING.
    LIVE THE QUESTIONS NOW.
    …perhaps you will then gradually,
    without noticing it,
    live along some distant day
into the answer.” Rainer Maria Rilke

  10. Davey,
You should write a book! Your thoughts and blogs are very creative and poetic. Have a wonderful day Davey and who ever else may read this!

  11. While I don’t think I can put this poetically (and certainly not with the beauty with which Rilke can express) I just love the conversation you started today, DW. That means all of it, including the dissenting voice. This conversation IS an example of a (probably not so) random group of voices trying to “live out the questions.” This “living” includes both joy and pain (and yes, even lust) and is beautiful because it is spontaneous and alive. Thank you all who have shared.

  12. Why should he bother? Negativity and spite on a daily blog to show how much of a closeted and jaded old f*g he is wouldn’t be new and exciting – Davey Wavey, being gay, not showing his junk, having a mind and talented enough to be popular around the world is…

…thanks Davey Wavey, and I agree with you – I don’t know what David posts that, but he knows you, and your success bothers him. I hope he starts being original and an individual capable of living the greatest motto – ‘live and let live.’

  13. I find a large crow bar works wonders on those boxes and doors. You just have to evaluate whether it’s worth the mess to get the answer.

  14. I too don’t reply often, BUT I do read every one of Davey’s posts and watch every one of his vid’s … and … Yes, I do enjoy viewing his sexy form, but I have even more respect for his morals and what he is trying to teach the world.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK DAVEY!!!

  15. And the cops arrested you and put you in hand cuffs and you got wet all the way on the ride to jail.

  16. It should be titled “My best work in my job I’m in in my undies.”

  17. LOL! ( hate using that term and would rather have people call me and LOL) A few well placed hand grenades works wonders where a few well placed nukes might just be over kill. If youv’e ever heard the term “like horseshoes and hand grenades,” I always add “And nuclear weapons where close is usually enough.”

  18. Some times I don’t post at all and prefer just to comment on some comments and hope for some kind of dialoge where multiple people share. That’s really the beauty of this technology after all.

  19. There are 2 phases to finding answers. First is when the internal furniture blocks the way to the door and you have to learn to get around it.

The second is when in opening the door you find stuff you love and stuff you hate. Sometimes you keep the door closed yourself because you cannot accept the stuff you hate.

  20. You’re so right, if we all knew the answer and live by them, then are we just following what’s “supposed to be”? or are we being true to ourselves? They’re meant to be unreachable so we can feel a sense of purpose of living by finding those answers.

  21. Dear Davey Wavey,
Hola me llamo mighelito (hi my name is mighel). I saw your video about you coming out of the closet to your parents and I wanted to share to you my story of how difficult it was for mi to come out of the closet to my parents.

  22. If you could email my at my email address then that would be great ^^

  23. Hey Davey, some great questions you have there. As it happens I used to have the same ones, then found the answers I was looking for, and wrote a book about it! Check out the details at http://www.beinghumantoday.com :-)
Oh, and I don’t post here regularly but do read everyone of ur posts and enjoy them everytime!

  24. I assume it is cappuccino!. I think DW might enjoy a retreat with the Monks for a week of rising at dawn and praying or chanting the psalms. Wisdom will then be found. What do you think?

  25. Nope regular coffee or espresso, cappuccino for Italians is a meal. Never hung with monks, maybe so. Have been to a monastary in the Italian alps, think chilliing with monks be a bore.

  26. I’m gay, but that was HOT! You go girl. Thanks for expressing something as personal as a dream!
