Did you know that 1+1 does not always equal 2? In fact, at 34,000 feet while reading Biocentrism on yesterday’s flight, I learned that the ancient Greeks used language and logic to prove that 1+1=3. It turns out, it can also equal zero.
What’s all this about anyway? The above lapse in logic points to a very real truth: Our words have limitations. No one to date has yet to pen a complete definition for love. Go ahead and try. Your words can at best point the way – like a lighthouse trying to pierce a dense midnight fog with it’s candle-powered beam. But into the abyss the light fades, never reaching its target. Words are limited. Necessary and at times powerful – but limited.
When I look at the countenance of a stranger and see myself, I find it hard to describe that experience. The knowing that I have that we are all so deeply connected in a way that transcends the illusions of time and space is beyond my ability to describe with the 616,500 of words in the English language.
It’s like trying to bring down the sun with a slingshot.
Don’t get me wrong: It doesn’t mean I won’t try, but I almost certainly will never quite hit the mark when I try to explain how when I think of you, I know that we are one. So deeply connected. At best, different beats of the same heart.
Separation is indeed an illusion. But with words as my hammer, I’ll never break it.

Beautiful pictures as always : ) and a lovely sentiment that words are only the path to the door. Very true, that when it comes to the description of some things, words just don’t quite cut it lol
August 31, 2010 at 9:13 am
Too deep for Words….
August 31, 2010 at 9:28 am
Could you be more beautiful? Your beauty transcends through your words and your way of being, not just your physical attributes (they do round out the circle). One day, dear Davey, I will tell you in person. Our encounter may be nothing more than seconds of our infinty, but they will be seconds forever altering my life- maybe yours too.
Don’t stop. Stay beautiful.

The Power of Your Words Can Do Amazing Things
August 31, 2010 at 12:32 pm
Many things, actually most things can only be known through direct experience. Someone can describe the taste and texture and smell of a banana but those descriptions do not equal the experience of eating one. We are here to experience what life has to offer, thereby knowing it intimately. While what we experience may be very similar, what we experience is unique to our own experience of it as we each are individual points of awareness within the one being. Like the treads in a fabric, or the facets of a diamond, each of us is essential to the magnificence of the total being in expression.
August 31, 2010 at 12:40 pm
You look really cute in these pictures!!

Nice photos and 1+1=2. lol
August 31, 2010 at 7:56 pm
Im really confused about all of this..
1+1=2. But If, 1+1=3
And u are talking about relationship wise.. It’s true.. It’s possible for (1) person to have (2) lovers.. If that is what u are getting at.. Maybe acient greek logic was based on this status too.. I could be wrong.. Im not being bias on myself..
What do u think?
August 31, 2010 at 8:07 pm
Love the glasses Mr. Wavey.
No, I really do.
August 31, 2010 at 10:06 pm
Nice pics, you’re starting to look like a man instead of a twink. You should be really handsome at 40. Plus, it will be interesting to hear what you have to say once you have some experience under your belt. Grow in peace, DW.
August 31, 2010 at 10:18 pm
The words are the mirror. Sometimes we place our own reflection instead of what’s actually there. In our rush of life we see but do not always observe. In the end it does not change the nature of the words. It is our perception that does that.
August 31, 2010 at 10:20 pm
1/3 = 0.333…
3 x 1/3 = 1 but 3 x 0.333… = 0.999…
therefore 0.999…= 1 ?
Gotta LOVE math
September 1, 2010 at 12:09 am
Hey Davey, may I use this line from you blog in my facebook status: “Separation is indeed an illusion. But with words as my hammer, I’ll never break it.” This is a good line/quotation to remember and ponder
September 1, 2010 at 12:49 am
You need to rent the just released DVD “Just Say Love”. If you haven’t seen the film at a gay film fest already. Really makes you think about what love really is and how the ancient Greeks have always known what they are talking about.
September 1, 2010 at 5:07 am
wow, i seem to see multiple messages in this, words are powerful, pictures tell stories, but our actions are even more powerful.
Great blog davey, what a way to ponder.
September 1, 2010 at 7:38 am
you should let me be your editor. there are a lot of wasteful locutions in your post.
September 1, 2010 at 7:52 am
In my opinion DW’s locutions are not wasteful but give his writing character and reflect his upbringing.
I suspect that I would like your parents as I do you Davey!

September 1, 2010 at 12:06 pm
Random thoughts here…
1. OMG Davey!! I wear the same glasses as you or at least a very similar pair.
2. Loved this post and your use of language. In fact, is funny but one of the many reasons why I’m hooked up with your blog is because I’m learning english, and with you, I always find a new word or interesting reading material, so your like my hot English teacher
3. My interpretation of your piece of writing is: 1)a love letter to your significant other who is faraway, or 2)a monologue and you’re talking about you and your reflection, which also explains the mirror shoots…
4. Anyways, I’m probably overthinking this post of yours but who cares? Love getting philosophical! Love you Davey!!

I use this definition of love….that is love as a creation, not as a feeling. (Feelings are inconstant, always changing, not permanent. They are unreliable.) On the other hand, if you consider love as “One’s commitment to the happiness, success and well-being of another,” it is very powerful. In that definition, Love can also apply to a job, an enterprise, and much more. In fact, I use this definition: “Love is one’s commitment to the happiness, success and well-being of ____(fill in the blank)_________.
September 1, 2010 at 3:44 pm
Hello, I agree that emotions are changing and that while one may experience ever changing emotions one can still be immersed within the field of love. I think emotions are tools which guild us into the field of love and let us know when we are moving out of it. Love is a state of being regardless of how you dress it up.

Lovely words and very inspiring. Thank you for your insight and the constant joy in life that you share.

HUGS to you MspyroM
September 2, 2010 at 11:16 am
I think I need an editor. I’m kind of aspiring to be a poet/writer and perhaps you could help me.
September 2, 2010 at 7:07 pm
thought provoking words-but i still dont know how one plus one equals three.
September 2, 2010 at 11:30 pm
1+1 = 3
-1 -1
——–
1 = 2
You and I are two, therefore you and I are one.
Bertrand Russell used this in a lecture to prove that he was the Pope. Given your ability to see yourself in others I think this has a deeper meaning for you.
Great post!

Biocentrism is a great book. I was searching for the logic (or rather illogic) behind the greeks equation of 1+1=3 and found your site. Even before I found Biocentrism, I have read many books all pointing towards the belief that all is one. In our day there is so much individualism implemented into society, making it increasingly difficult to “see” and understand this concept. I suggest you check out some beliefs held by buddhism, especially if you life Biocentrism. They both tend to intertwine.
