After spending my lunch hour sleeping under a tree in the park and my late afternoon perusing the local organic farmer’s market, this I know: Canada is just a better version of the United States.
Kidding aside (as I’m too much of a cultural relativist to issue such statements), Toronto is amazing. And being here is not unlike being in San Francisco, just with more rights (gay marriage is legal here), more access (i.e., social services and universal health care) and more foreskin.

In other news, I read this Dr. Dyer quote today, and it resonated with me:
If you focus on what others expect of you, you’ll continue to act on and attract more of what they desire for you. But when you can shift your inner thoughts to what you intend to create and attract into your life, you will no longer have to give mental energy to what others want for you.
The logic is impeccable and truth is simple yet profound.
Today, I will practice the advice of Dr. Dyer in two ways. First, I’m making an executive decision: A little Davey Wavey goes a long way stays. (Don’t worry, I’ll still give all the finalists my four workout videos!) Second, I’m going to spend the next five minutes jumping on my bed, as today I want to attract freedom, creativity, spontaneity and fun into my life.

As a youngster I remember being reprimanded, “Your bed is not a trampoline ! ” Later I found the tramp in me. Peace.
June 24, 2008 at 5:49 pm
In the upper right picture it looks like Chipotle is thinking, “There goes Davey-Wavey again. He gets like that. But I love him anyhow”.

Oops! I meant upper left!

Welcome to Toronto! We do have it pretty good here.
Since it’s pride week, I happened to pick up a book that was on display at Indigo at Bay & Bloor that I thought you might be interested in. It relates directly to your recent posts about accepting your body and finding happiness etc. It’s the only book I’ve ever read about gay issues that I felt was totally accurate and really helped me understand myself. I only read it yesterday, but I’ve been walking around all day today with this strange sense of lightness…. Anyway it’s called The Velvet Rage: Overcoming the Pain of Growing Up Gay in a Straight Man’s World. It’s written by Alan Downs, Phd. He’s a psychiatrist who works with gay men, so it’s more about understanding why gay men feel the need to be perfect and the kinds of relationship problems they have, and why some many of us have trouble finding happiness. It’s not really a self-help type book, but there some advice on authentic living that seems to reflect they things you express on your blog.
Also I remember a while back you posted something about how you were unhappy about how you felt you used sex in an inauthentic way – or something to that effect. I don’t know you, but I feel strongly like this book has some answers.
I hope you or any of your readers have a chance to pickup the book. I highly recommend it.
cheers,
-mike

I love that you spent your time jumping on the bed. It is so important for you to be who you want to be. I love it.
June 24, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Davey Wavey what can I say?
Thanks.
Thank you so so much – even though none of the finalists ‘won’ you’ve given us an amazing gift.
I’ve started back at the gym to try and ‘bulk up’ (I lost a lot of weight back along and haven’t really been happy with my body since), so these videos are going to make a welcome addition to my routine.
Have a wonderful day (and I may start my morning by jumping on the bed – start with the right attitude after all!)
Peace and love

Davey…I have a question for blog buddies.
I could never get into Dr. Dyer’s books.
Damn I am glad you receive some insight from them, but they just don’t do it for me.
Has any other blog buddies read Dr Dyer’s books?
Just a thought.
thanks

Mike in Dallas – I am currently reading “10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace”. Whilst it’s message resonates strongly with me, and provides a good reminder that our universe is our own (and created by what we have to give it), it’s not a book you can plough through.
Some books I find myself flipping pages as fast I can to reach the next chapter. (What I’ve read of) Dr. Dyer doesnt provide this, one chapter at a time is quite sufficient for a few days
If you’re looking to read Dr. Dyer then perhaps you should read them as if you were in school (obviously not as strictly lol) but make a few notes on his key messages as you go?
Just a thought, have a lovely day.

thank you…I did read him some years ago and tried to get away with quick reading.
You are correct that you must read with diligence to understand.
thanks for you input.

Hi Dave,
I’m 6’2 and if I jumped on my bed, I’d hit the ceiling.
HOWEVER
My neighbors just bought a 14 foot trampoline and while I was out on the deck yesterday admiring some flowers I planted (one which, I swear, has an image of an Angel in it’s petals) my neighbor called out “Coming over for a jump?” and I said thank you, but passed.
After reading your post today, I think I may reconsider.
Today I’m thankful for neighbors with a 14 foot trampoline and Dave for inspiring me to jump on it.
Craig.

From Davey-Wavey’s site here, I have learned 2 items some people cannot and will not tolerate: 1. the truth and 2. foreskin and not necessarily in that order! Irrationality raises its ugly head and breathes fire into the conversation when the truth and foreskin are mentioned in a phrase! The truth is I am the proud owner of a foreskin and prefer foreskin possessors as my consorts when socializing, and believe me the conversation always gets there sooner or later: “are you cut or uncut!” and with pride I declare: “I am uncut and commercial free!” like a Turner classic! Enjoy me!
June 25, 2008 at 12:58 am

Today, I’m grateful for the group “Groove Coverage – Far away from home” ; I can not stop listening ( I will soon go on holiday and see my parents) and for you, for everything you do. So, I will dedicate to you this video that I find fantastic.

Into My Own
One of my wishes is that those dark trees,
So old and firm they scarcely show the breeze,
Were not, as ’twere, the merest mask of gloom,
But stretched away unto the edge of doom.
I should not be withheld but that some day
into their vastness I should steal away,
Fearless of ever finding open land,
or highway where the slow wheel pours the sand.
I do not see why I should e’er turn back,
Or those should not set forth upon my track
To overtake me, who should miss me here
And long to know if still I held them dear.
They would not find me changed from him the knew–
Only more sure of all I though was true.

I prefer Japanese “haiku” poetry:
on it, in it
thru it, out it
it’s still thit!

Hey Dave…..I love Canada too, but….I guess I’m to patriotic to give up on the USA. And the good news, gay marraige and foreskins are on the rise in the US….sooo just be patient.
Enjoy all that is Canada…..especially those Royal Canadian Mounties…yummy!!
Bye for now.

Speaking as a capped man myself, don’t you just love foreskins?
June 28, 2008 at 9:54 am
Yes, indubitably! There’s always more to it with foreskin.
June 25, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Anatomy of a Fraud:
1st-Announce a contest to change website tagline
2nd-Post four taglines for blog buddies to vote
for (one of which is current tagline)
3rd-Announce an “executive decision” to keep
the current tagline even though it came in
second in the voting
I love your blog but feel cheated by your decision concerning your tagline.

The President did it to justify our involvement in Iraq so as the father so the sons!
June 25, 2008 at 3:38 pm
When my son was born the doc assumed that we wanted to have him circumcised – luckily I was able to intervene and stop that .
So I researched it, and could not find any compelling arguement for having it forced on my kid – Seems to me that it is natural to remain uncut, but in any case the owner of the penis should have the right to decide! so he can decide for himself later.
June 25, 2008 at 6:43 pm
Thank you, thank you, Paul, it is a decision your son will never regret! you are a true lover of thy child! GOD bless..!
June 26, 2008 at 3:54 pm
thou art a true lover of thy child! Sir Paul!
June 28, 2008 at 10:06 am
One of my friends took his son out of the hospital as soon as he was born just to be sure they didn’t cut him. The friend himself was cut! So you are not alone among fathers who don’t feel that their sons must look like daddy “down there”.
Do no harm. First rule.
Living here in Montreal and elsewhere in Canada we intact men are the greater majority, about the opposite of what the circ rate is in the States. Maybe we DO love our kids more.
Be well,
June 28, 2008 at 5:46 pm
good and timely, important blog response! commentary: when I’m out and about socializing, invariable a potential circumcised partner will ask, “are you cut or uncut?” the uncircumcised never ask this question. just a curious observation in passing! thank you! I wish you well!

I ‘m glad you ‘re having fun in Toronto.
Nice pics by the way.
June 27, 2008 at 12:19 pm
That quote sounds like its from the book ” the secret”. Excellent stuff let me tell ya. I just started reading it and im Hooked .
On another thing, i bet you came pretty close to hitting your head on those pipes up there.
I could never jump on my own bed cuz theres low ceilings here, and one time when i was 10 i was jumping on my parents bed and fell, hit my head on the dresser and fell unconcious, after that….the bed was only for sleeping, screwing and maybe little eating.
July 4, 2008 at 12:01 am
hahaha, thanks for the quote. You will go a very long way~
