I first heard the expression, “Smile with your eyes!” from my yoga professor at university. Every class, we’d get three or four reminders to perform what seemed to be the impossible.
Needless to say, the paradox of smiling with a body part that lacked a mouth was more than most of us students could handle.
In my obsession with all things Tyra, I’ve been watching this season’s America’s Next Top Model. I find the creativity and artistic element of the fashions and photo shoots to be inspiring. And there’s just something about Tyra Banks’ uncensored personality that captivates me. At any rate, for the last few weeks, Tyra has been telling the girls to smile with their eyes.
Apparently, Professor Diab was on to something.
So take a second to smile with your eyes. I can’t explain how to do it. You just have to try it for yourself. You’ll enjoy the benefits of a more relaxed face, less tension in the brow and a general sense of warmth and well-being. If you’re in a bitter mood, it may help you turn things around.
Take a page from Tyra, and smile with your eyes on all of creation today.

Smiling with your eyes comes from the heart, not the mind, and is a matter of ‘being,’ not ‘doing’ … a matter of coming from ‘love,’ (a warm, caring commitment to others and to the world) rather than from ‘fear’ which is rooted in uncertainty about how things will turn out for you, and which generates worry, anger, hatred, wrinkled brows and sad eyes. So consider the possibility tht ‘smiling with your eyes’ is not something you consciously do; it is something that happens when you are able to transform yourself from ‘coming from fear’ to ‘coming from love.’ Davey Wavey is a perfect example of ‘coming from love,’ and his commitment to us all shows in his eyes…and his words.

Hi Davey, I probably should have left this message a few days ago, but will do it now, in the hope they you will see it. I would normally msg you as a 1;1 but I don’t really have a way to do so.
I saw the entry about your mom, and I will hope and pray for the best.
What I think I must tell you, and I know it from my own experience, that this is a time where she needs all the energies, hope and light she can possibly get.
If I had to advise you, Davie, again- from my own personal experience – I would say that this is not a good time for you to be away. I know how much you love Toronto, but trust me on this one – you want and need to be near your mom.
She will probably not tell you this – but she really really needs you there.

I knew about the whole thing about smiling with your eyes as well watching America’s Next Top Model even when I really don’t like watching it compare to Australia’s Next Top Model (watch Australia’s Next Top Model Davey in youtube by the Channel “Tausili”) hahaha. Well at first the whole thing I try in me self smiling with me eyes, it was hard I don’t know why but it was. But then it got easier, so now I can. Thanks mentioning that Davey, Cheers!!!

I really think it takes an individual who is truly happy on the inside to be able to smile with their eyes. The eyes are the window to the soul and that is why Tyra said it. She wanted to make sure the contestants really loved what they were doing, and that would be evident through their eyes.
