On this holiday morning, may you give more love than you seek.
May you understand others rather than you ask to be understood.
May you express compassion rather than require it for yourself.
May you listen rather than be listened to.
May you accept rather than be accepted.
May you lift up rather than seek to be lifted.
May you give hope rather than receive it.
Of all the great mysteries of life, one thing is certain: We are put on this Earth to make it a better place for everyone else.
Merry Christmas!

I am glad that your Catholic roots are working for you!!!
Prayer of St. Francis:
“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.”
Merry Christmas!!!

St Francis? I think you’ll find St Patrick was there first with his breastplate. But then, I think he was just basing it on the Beatitudes. Never mind, if Davey Wavey’s just Jesus Christ in sexy underwear that’s fine by me.
December 26, 2009 at 5:02 am
Apparently great minds think alike; I was also reminded of St. Francis’ prayer while reading Davey’s Christmas blog post. I don’t think you’ll find another prayer in the Christian faith that more beautifully and fully sums up Christ’s message to all of us to love everyone as we love ourselves. Despite all we’ve added to His message over the years, it all boils down to Love – the greatest gift of all.

3rd year in a row now that my family and I have not exchanged gifts. we realized that gathering to share our love and time together is more important than expressing it through material objects. so to you DW and to all your fans-may your holiday be equally loving and wrapped with joy.
December 27, 2009 at 5:56 pm
2nd yr in a row we discontinued exchanging gifts-being unemployed i couldnt possibly reciprocate.however i mustve slipped up and mentioned that i had to trash my bicycle due to extensive repair-guess what?i got a new mountain bike.never ever expected that.but going back to subject of this blog-the beatitudes come to mind.and prayer of St.Francis.

You always have such inspired words for us and I love it! I tend to get a little selfish this time of year and this was a good reminder to snap out of it. Thanks Davey!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
December 25, 2009 at 8:37 pm
Davey…if your going to paraphrase the Peace Prayer of St. Francis you should at least give him the credit.
December 26, 2009 at 5:09 pm
Your Dec.25 comment MO was disappointing – you could have at least thanked Davey for his wishes and inspiration. His ‘paraphrasing” (if it really was) was quite lovely and appropriate. Don’t be soooo critical of honest efforts. Ministers, Priests, and Rabbis have been doing the very thing you criticize Davey for doing. So what!!! At least Davey takes the time to do something positive.
December 25, 2009 at 11:00 pm
Aww, have a Merry Christmas to Davey. We ALL Love you & wish you the best(at least I do).

May all your blessings be multiplied.
Ditto to all of the above.
As for the “certainty” that we “have been put here”, for whatever purpose, let’s just say we might address that idea on another post.
My sincere thanks and blessings to you, Davey, for making all our lives so much more enlightened.
Merry Christmas to you and to all our blog buddies everywhere: Christian, Moslem, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Pagan, followers of other fsiths, and to agnostics and non-believers in some force that “puts” us places.
Peace, Health, and Love to all,
Be well,
