So, how can you make the world better?
My pick is Stephen.T’s comment:

give more, expect less and shine your light for the world to see.
A beautiful response. One of many great comments – a big thanks to all those who participated in the contest. Stephen.T won a copy of A Heart Full of Peace by Joseph Goldstein.
When I ask myself, “How can I make the world better?” I get caught up on the word “better”. I can’t imagine a world better than the one in which we already live.
Sure, a world void of famine, hunger, war, violence and hate would be great. But I think we can only arrive there once we’ve learned the lessons that our more hurtful world has to offer. Those lessons are being offered up every day. This is part of the journey.
In my own life, I’ve noticed that I attract so called “negative” situations into my life until I learn the lesson being offered by those situations. Strangely, once I learn the lesson, the negative situation stops occurring. In the same way, we can learn from the plight of today’s world to make a more loving tomorrow.
And it doesn’t get better than that.
As we all learn to respond with compassion, love and peace, we evolve the collective consciousness of humankind. And indeed, we are moving in the direction of enlightenment. Slavery is becoming less common and is generally rejected by most societies. Women are gaining rights that we once commonly denied. Torture and cruel punishments are no longer commonplace.
Yes, people are still enslaved, tortured and women are denied rights – but there is a clear trend in the progress of humankind. It’s a trend towards enlightenment. Slow but steady.
You’d never know it by watching the news.
But it’s true.
Just look at the 100+ comments you all left.
And when we get there, it will be beautiful – but I’m pretty sure it won’t be any better than today. Just as my life today isn’t better than my more ego-centered adolescent years. I honor those years as part of my journey. In another 20 years, I’ll reflect back on my 20s and probably feel the same way. I won’t be in a better place, just a different place.

Kudos to Stephen!!! I hope we all arrive together in our different places, and are able to reflect back on our 20′s. The world is wonderful, and will continue to be wonderful, as long as we all learn from our mistakes and our “negative situations”. Thanks Davey for such a great contest!
Hope you made a fabulous day today and again tomorrow!

Congrats, Stephen!
Davey, this was a great contest. It was so uplifting reading all of the comments that were left. Even if we didn’t win, we should all try to take those comments we wrote and read and practice them anyway. We’re all on our own journey, but they are all connected, whether we realize it or not. Our actions influence others, so what kind of influence will we have?

What’s is this nonsense “Torture and cruel punishments are no longer commonplace.”
Your country leads the world in this practice at Guantanamo Bay detention camp.

This is oddly the most, delightful blog I think I’ve ever read. I know blog and delightful don’t really work together but somehow I think it suits this one. It’s like a digital pick-me-up.

It’s already 8 : 30 a.m. Time to go back to the office.
Lot of works to do on computer, I think !
I’m a bit disappointed, I thougt not that I could win but that a more elaborate answer was needed for such a tough question. I certainly got wrong and didn’t understand the topic of the day at all. I worked on it saturday for hours !
English is not my favourite language. I understand much more german.
So, just tell me, once, did I get wrong ?. I will be honored if you’ll answer.

I like the idea of keeping my heart open, and exploring and building a better more spiritual life — much like yourself Dave.
I wonder though.
I’m visiting Quito Ecuador for a few weeks, and realize that most people in the world do not have the luxury of the “exploration” that I enjoy.
Most people in the world are just struggling to get by each day. The best they can hope for is a better “afterlife”.
I’m grateful that I’ve been given so much — and am give the luxury of time and energy to go on a spiritual journey — I also leave my heart open to their daily endurance that I can not comprehend.
