I’m as big of an aussieBum fan as the next underwear-obsessed gay guy, yet I can’t help but roll my eyes and chuckle at some of their marketing materials.
Yesterday, I received an email with the subject line: “If you’ve got it, flaunt it.” Upon opening the message, I discovered a scantily-clad, tanned male model with something like negative 30% body fat. He certainly has it, and there’s no doubt he’s flaunting it.
Whatever “it” is, I’m quite certain that the rest of us have it, too. We might not all be 6’2”, chiseled or able to give those sultry bedroom eyes. But I don’t think our “it” is any bit diminished.
I believe that our “it” goes beyond our bodies, whatever shape, color or form they might take. It’s the totality of everything that makes us… us. It’s the unique combination of traits, characteristics and perspectives that ensures no one has seen this universe in the same way that you do. It’s about removing our social masks and having the courage to express ourselves, even if that means being different.
That’s the real “it” in my book. There’s no doubt that you’ve got it. But it’s up to you to decide if you’re brave enough to flaunt it.

Would I like to have a body like the guy in the photo above? Of course. Am I prepared to spend hours in the gym to get it, no, I’m way to lazy for that, and prefer to spend my time on other things. So I’ve long since made my peace that the body I have is the body I have.
I watch what I eat, everything in moderation. And I exercise with long and regular walks. Could I do with more exercise, probably, but I think its enough, and after talking to my doctor, he agrees.
I’m happy with myself, and that is the most important thing.

hmm that guy seems fairly infuriated, actually. looks like someone I’d have an unfortunate rendezvous with outside the bar instead of the bedroom.

Well said Davey! To bad Madison Ave. doesnt advertise enough what you so smartly put into words. Happy Weekend!

From his expression it seems that his shorts are a couple sizes too small.

Walmart is missing the boat not hiring you to advertise their boxer underwear. YOU would make a silk purse out a sow’s ear.

You continue to inspire me Davey! We have an annual MaiFest here and I took my camera…

I would love to get those underwear, but they are too expensive. Davey you look very nice in yours and you definitely have “it”. Not only are you gorgeous but you are a sweet heart, super outgoing, and quite funny.

Our whole culture, including the gay world, glorifies the hot, tanned, beautiful men with six packs…have actually met very few of them. My type is graying hair, moderate sized and cuddly. Ever try snuggling into a six pack…you could slip off! But, give me a guy with some flesh on him and I just melt. I also think we can all start to focus on gays that teach, preach, heal, write, live, raise kids…that is all very sexy to me. Seeing a couple of gay guys walking with a stroller makes me melt…how wonderful is that? I have read that a six pack is not supposed to be so visible; it means you are kind of malnourished. The really hot guys can also be very narcissistic and that is the worst kind of lover.

Yes, I agree. Davey is very nice looking and and cute. I love his style (I don’t mean his clothes-he’s rarely dressed in the videos, not that I mind)Just subscribed to BTI and I like myself better now!

Hah! I laughed pretty loud when you said you could slip off a six pack. That was good.
I agree whole-heartedly that a guy with more “flesh” to him has an appeal all his own.
It’s most likely my age and culture, but I do find guys with six packs really attractive, too, though.
I don’t really have something I dislike entirely. I don’t know if that makes me accepting or a … well promiscuous, I guess. At least potentially. I don’t actually go for anyone. xD
Anyway, great post Davey. Well said. =)

Ur awesome! You always make me smile with your great outlook on life! Love you Davey!
May 14, 2011 at 11:50 pm
Yes the guy in the pic most guys would find attractive however, he could very well be a jerk and that it a big turn off for me. Looks are the first thing people see and I’ll say I’m one of the guys that looks at looks HOWEVER I do not think they are the most important thing about a guy. The nerdyest looking guy can be the most sencere while the model-looking guy can be an asshole.

Davey, it is hard to take advice on being okay with my natural self from someone who obviously spends a lot of time and energy at the gym. It is like the prom queen consoling the ugly girl in the corner telling her that she understands and that she is pretty on the inside and that someone will come along for her soon too. Until you have walked a mile in some of our shoes, stick to the more shallow posts please.

well i had an encounter just yesterday in a beachtown-actually twice.eye candy that melted any stress i had.no briefs-but a natural blond shoulder like curly hair tasteful jeans and t-shirt-and red shoes to boot.now thats sexy.and not stuck up-as others on this blog refer to.i had no negative thoughts-youd never think youd have this encounter in a conservative religious university town.wait till beach season.

May 24, 2011 at 5:44 pm
When I look at the ad above, I think to myself “Why is he so angry about underwear?”
