Yesterday was an amazing day.
I started my day with a reinvigorating workout followed by an incredible Ashtanga Yoga class. It really helped me become more centered and more present in my day. The class had a series of binds. Binds are yoga postures that generally include some kind of arm variation in which one arm circles the body and grasps the other. In addition to providing a deep stretch, the posture helps circulate your body’s energy, connecting the circuits. It’s nothing short of wonderful.
I decided to reproduce my favorite pose in the pictures below. It’s four steps.
- Sit on the floor with your right leg bent. Tuck your left leg underneath, with your left foot sandwiched between your upper thigh and your right foot. See picture number 1.
- Reach forward with your right hand. See picture 2.
- Reach around your right knee with your right hand. See picture 3.
- Reach your left arm around your back. Grasp your right hand with your left hand. If you can’t reach, use a belt or a tie to help. See picture 4.
- Hold the pose. Breath deeply for 15 full breaths.
- Repeat on the opposite side.

Let me know how you like it.

I thought you have more beautiful feet.

Looks like an amazing way to start a day. I will have to try that!

Hi, this has nothing to do with this post—
it is rather a request.
Could you, for the sake of me and other alike, post a talky blog about your ideas on monogamy and polygamy. Because you have explained your ideas on commiting yourself to one individual spiritualy but not sexually? its just confusing. please explain
-What your beliefs are
-How you came upone these beliefs
-How other people deal with these beliefs
-How you don’t get jealous if someone does the same to you (don’t say “well if I do it I can’t expect them not to” that’s not an explanation, instead explain why it doesn’t bother you to know that you’re not the only one for them)
-Has anyone rejected you because of this belief?
-Any other relevant input or stories.
I hope you read this. thank you:)

monogamy or polygamy does not exist in davey’s world.. he is not putting any labels on any kind of relationship, he said that very early on
July 27, 2008 at 10:37 am
Hey thanks for the insight.
I’ve got one comment and it’s not on your exercises, but on your housekeeping.
I’ve noticed that you keep things very plain and simple; totally uncluttered. I am sure that it helps keep your mind and spirit as uncluttered. It surely helps in making housekeeping simple and quick.
Ah . . I can breathe…
July 27, 2008 at 10:42 am
What’s it called?
July 27, 2008 at 11:40 am
Off topic: what type of camera did you use when capturing these pictures? I’m looking to purchase a nice cam…
July 27, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Yoga is awesome! I would love to see directions for more yoga poses like this one, especially Ashtanga poses. Hope you post more like this! (o:

If I could twist my body into a pretzel like that, I might not get out of it.
July 27, 2008 at 2:34 pm
DAvey, I would also like to see answers to Tamas questions.
Personally I have never seen an open relationship work for along time.
Once couples “Open up the relationship” it is usally the begining of the end.
July 27, 2008 at 3:34 pm
It’s pretty hard since I’m not a regular yoga guy myself, but it’s quite ok. At first I didn’t think I could twist bend and reach like that.
July 27, 2008 at 4:31 pm
Ok. You are more limber than me. I can almost get the position, but things pop when I do.
July 27, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Hi, Dave!
I’d love it if you did a post on how you keep your living space so aesthetically clean and simple. I believe that what you own ends up owning you, but even with minimal material possessions, how DO you keep your apartment so streamlined? I think this would be a great topic for you to divulge as it lends itself so to a healthy, more spiritual person.
Especially for people who move around a bit (as you have), how do you decide what to keep or what to toss? Are you the type that saves every nostalgic momento or do you trash it, as the memory is in your mind?
I would love your thoughts!
July 27, 2008 at 9:26 pm
oh yeah… please explain davey, i’d love to know as well..
i’ve got so much clutter…
July 27, 2008 at 6:25 pm
I love the new workout ad with the little tv’s!
July 27, 2008 at 7:14 pm
i think a lot of people had nose bleed today…i think the next posting will be about tantric sex
July 27, 2008 at 8:18 pm
That’s a pretty good stretch. I’ll have to try to practice that one.
Are you going to do Bikram next, now that sweltering August heat and humidity are on the way?
I’m with Vinnie – I like the uncluttered space you keep around you.
Man you really have big feet!!!1
July 27, 2008 at 9:06 pm
And u know what they say about boys with big feet
July 27, 2008 at 9:20 pm
yea, smelly feet
July 27, 2008 at 9:02 pm
i can’t imagine myself doing that, lol. my bones are too hard and inflexible, crap.
July 27, 2008 at 9:29 pm
well, it’s not the bones that are the problem. it’ll be your joints and ligaments. do some regular stretching to keep you nice and limber. helps against sprains and tears.
July 27, 2008 at 9:19 pm
It was incredible!
We definitely need some of those for the live workouts.
Keep the great stuff coming!

I started yoga a year ago. Totally changed my life.
And Davey…tsk tsk tsk with that wiki link. That place is not to be trusted! Pull out a good old fashioned BOOK! lol
Love your blog!

I find the comments about clutter in our living space far more interesting than the Yoga pose, although there are some erotic values to the crystal clear pics.
We live in a consumer society where the more you consume the more you reflect your societal values. Those who pare down to the basics seem to have a clearer idea about the important things in life. I have worked very hard to reduce, reduce, reduce. I even lived as a Buddhist monk for a time with only the robes and my bowl for food as possessions, and still stuff materialized in my living space. It’s one of the hardest things to keep under control. It’s as difficult as getting into the pose in Davey’s pic, but very worth the effort.
Think Zen. Better, yet stop thinking.
Be well,

Sorry — too tough for me — Friday was my 83rd birthday — arthritis and osteoporosis. Anyway I can still enjoy your pics (and pecs).
I’ve been wanting to ask if you have ever heard of a device called the Still Point Inducer. When I had a very painful attack of cervical spondylosis a couple of years ago the physical therapist recommended I purchase one and it has been wonderful. Not just for stretching the spine but for inducing complete relaxation and an opportunity for a few minutes of undisturbed meditation.
Look it up on Yahoo or Google.

Ok, no blatant sexual comments to “Bind me up”? (davey’s description, not mine)
You’re asking Davey Wavey about his clean apartment and talking about yoga?
His sterile apartment isn’t the first thing that popped into my mind..
Keep up the great work Davey!
July 29, 2008 at 8:08 am
Matt – open your mind, this isn’t a sexual site!! It’s an examination of life with not just a clean apartment, but clean heart and soul as well. Jeez! Although I do like “blah’s” suggestion for a post on tantric sex. I’ve been on a tantric vacation before, and it was unbelievable!
July 29, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Chris,
Enlighten all of us about this tantric vacation.
Maybe you and Davey Wavey can do a talky blog.
(only if Davey is doing “yoga” positions)
July 29, 2008 at 9:25 am
What a minute, Davey…time to get the Swifter Vac out…I see some dust bunnies under the dresser!
July 29, 2008 at 12:37 pm

July 29, 2008 at 10:34 pm
Dude your poses are so great. I wish I can do yoga too. I hope you do not get offended by this question. Do you ever worked out naked or practice your yoga naked?
July 30, 2008 at 4:33 pm
I must say… great pictures!!!
You are great.
August 4, 2008 at 4:35 pm
Does it hurt ? I’ve never do that. I can appreciate your suppleness with the pictures but it’s somehow a kind of torture for the body and I don’t promise you I’ll try this evening….or later.
September 15, 2008 at 3:23 pm
ok =)! I will try that tomorrow because today it’s too late – 10:18 pm – and I will let you know how I like it!
bye,
