climbing the walls.

Tomorrow, there will be a pretty big change in my life.

You see, I’m becoming a woman. Just kidding. But I am getting the keys to my condo – which is pretty exciting, as far as I’m concerned. I’m excited to have my own space. I’m even excited to pay my mortgage – I’m very grateful for it.

So, since tomorrow is my first night in the new pad, Will is going to be stopping over for a slumber party. We’ll also be answering some of your questions. So if you haven’t asked a question yet, do it by clicking here. We’re also going to be giving away a surprise present to someone that donates through the charity badge (top right) before 8PM tomorrow. I’m not taking that sucker down until we reach 5k.

On a different note: I don’t really watch too much TV, so I decided I’m not going to hook mine up in the new place. However, since I’m still at my parents house, I decided to engage in America’s favorite pastime. I happened to catch a piece of The Real Housewives of Orange County. I had to laugh. There was an attractive blonde woman venting about how much pressure she in her life: the pressure to be skinny and pretty and hot for her husband.

And no doubt, in her life, that pressure is very real.

It’s just interesting to see the things about which people make the decision to stress. Stress, of course, is a choice. It’s not a choice that I’d make, as the negative consequences strongly outweigh any benefit. The impacts of stress (heart disease, high blood pressure, etc.) don’t appeal to me.

My perspective is this: if something is within my control, there is no need to stress about it because it’s in my hands. If something is outside of my control, (i.e., a terrorist attack, a plane crash, etc.) then there is no need to stress about it because there is nothing I can do about it.

Of course, I think if I was struggling to feed my hungry children, I would feel stress. Perhaps, in that situation, stress can serve as an effective motivator. But for 95% of us, a decision to be a little less stressful would probably go a long way.

And if changing your perspective doesn’t work, try climbing your parents’ kitchen wall. That always helps.

  1. Well done! Would you please post pics of the condo?

  2. For me, life is always under pressure especially for the HK people. It’s nice to see your perspective in this aspect.

    Here’s my question:
What would be the 5 things you must do after you move into your new condo?

  3. Booooy! You betta’ get your sexy feet off your momma’s wallpaper! Ha Ha! (Sorry…me and my foot fetish) :-)

  4. Keep in mind, not everyone can just turn stress off – we all have different chemical makeups, and the ability to stress or not stress about something is far harder to control for some than others.
