Get out the U-Haul truck. This year, I decided to buy myself something special for Christmas: A new home.
As much as I love my current condo, all the filming equipment, lights, green screens and cameras take up a lot of space. Add a greyhound into the mix, and things start to get pretty tight. So I’m putting my current condo up for rent (if you live in – or want to move to Rhode Island – check it out), and signed a sales agreement for a new place.
Still in Rhode Island, my new home has a lot more space. The massive carved ceilings will provide plenty of room to let my creativity soar. Thanks to the oversized windows, lighting will be much easier. The incredible kitchen will be perfect for healthy cooking segments on my fitness YouTube channel. And with extra floor space and the possibility of a second level, my new home is well-suited for expansion – just in case I get pregnant.
But most of all, I can’t wait to tear down those horrible curtains.
I’ll get the keys sometime in January, but it will take a few months for renovations to complete. When it’s done, it’s going to be an amazing place to work, play, live and love. I can’t wait to share more of it with you.

Are those tin ceilings?

Thanks! It’s actually an old government administrative building from the late 1800s. Hopefully there are no ghosts!
December 23, 2011 at 9:03 pm
I would agree, Dave from Boston, they look like old tin ceilings. Are you in construction by chance? Maybe I could get you to work on my house
December 23, 2011 at 9:26 pm
Yes Mike I am in construction…I build & remodel homes. Ummm if your davey wavey then I will offer my services for free
O’h and davey…if you do end up with ghosts. Call Me!! LOL (no really)
December 24, 2011 at 4:30 pm
I am an engineer but I am also in construction. My hobby business is restoring and repairing old homes and buildings. I live in a 71 year old cape cod that I have restored to essentially how it looked when first built. No artificial materials used.
Davey, what you have is great and has sooooo much potential!
December 23, 2011 at 4:46 pm
I have no sense for fashion or decor, but even I think those curtains are ugly… But that house is HUGE!!
December 23, 2011 at 4:49 pm
Congrats, Davey! You worked hard for it!
December 23, 2011 at 5:04 pm
Wow, this place is incredible. I hope you’ll post post reno photos!
December 23, 2011 at 5:11 pm
Davey Wavey,
The place looks great. It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy!
You must be a size queen!!!!! The place is HUGE!
Those ceilings are press tin that was popular in the 1800′s and early 1900′s. I specialize in restoration and repairs on older homes and buildings. You have quite a find. Need any advice, let me know.
December 23, 2011 at 5:51 pm
Wow Davey! That is a really cool space!
Speaking as someone who had to buy a 100 year old church and renovate it to get space like that in the rural area of Maryland that I live in, I am incredibly jealous.
That space is just amazing! Gonna be a bitch to heat, but I know a little something about that.
Can’t wait to see what you do with it. Happy Holidays!
December 23, 2011 at 5:54 pm
Congratulations on the new house. All of your fans are so happy for you. It’s great to see your business growing and successful. You and Chipotle will really enjoy living in a house.
I love the video you just made on coming out, and it is great your parents participated in it.
Best wishes for a Merry Christmas, and a happy, healthy and most prosperous 2012.

December 23, 2011 at 8:30 pm
That looks great! I haven’t moved for 15 years, but just looking at those pictures makes me want to decorate. You’ll surely make it a nice home. Wish I could help you painting!
December 23, 2011 at 9:14 pm
Also, great find. And A GREAT Christmas present as well. It is undoubtedly haunted, which will make for a great Davey Wavey Hallowen video. Hopefully he will be a well endowed ghost…

Hi Davey, Congrats, I know the place will look great, and ditto from all the other comments, Every once in a while, after doing do much with and for others, treating yourself is a good thing. Will be looking forward to see the new reno when they’re done. “Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year”.
December 23, 2011 at 11:03 pm
Congratulations DW!

I wonder if you’d ever move out to California??
December 24, 2011 at 8:11 am
Also, I read your old post on the Ten Commandments, to go off-topic, and I felt doing ten new ones was overkill. Like George Carlin’s old routine, I’ve cut them down to two, with a third one as a bonus:
1. Thou shalt always be honest and faithful, especially to the provider of thy nookie.
2. Thou shalt try really hard not to kill anyone, unless of course they pray to a different invisible man in the sky than yours.
3. Thou shalt keep thy religion to thyself.
Thoughts?

I could kill for the woodwork. We’re having a white, New England Christmas here in west Texas. Those golden walls warm the cockles of my heart. Happy holidays, Davey, and don’t forget to hang the mistletoe.
December 24, 2011 at 10:37 am
Davey, this looks really beautiful! I hope, you will have wonderful, inspiring, colourful and harmonic years in it! And btw: Merry, merry christmas! Hugs, Lacarian.
December 24, 2011 at 11:56 am
Wow some one is moving up in the world;-)
December 24, 2011 at 12:19 pm
Capitalism at its best! Well-earned success, Davey. Congrats and keep up the good work. All the best during the holidays.
December 24, 2011 at 12:21 pm
Enjoy. The realtor knows when you start talking about what you’re going to change, he made the sale. Then it’s just banter about price, closing costs, and his commission, and when you can move in. SWEET.
December 24, 2011 at 1:53 pm
really nice and spacious-big enough if you get pregnant?are we seeing changes in DWs life?perhaps.hope when you do the big move-the weather cooperates.im moving soon-winters in Illinois can be brutal.

Your post reminds me of the night my friend Jerry and I were stranded overnight in Providence by a major snowstorm. We were on our way home for Christmas. We checked into an hotel and after dinner took a walking tour in the snow looking at the old historic buildings. Sometimes the most memorable events are those we never planned.
December 24, 2011 at 4:23 pm
@Joel J,
When Danny and I were together, I had gotten him a job at the local gay bar as I knew the owner. I took him to work in a snow storm that ended up being the second worst to hit southeast Virginia. The car got stuck and we had to walk the half mile to the bar. We were snowed in there and had to wait until the next morning and got a ride home in a Jeep. It was fun and different!
Now that brings back memories!
December 24, 2011 at 8:33 pm
@Ernie
\I’ve been shacked up in a snowstorm twice and each time the guy lying in bed with me was a straight guy from work. Just my luck!
December 24, 2011 at 2:10 pm
Holy cow Davey… looks amazing! I love our old victorian pile, but this place with the light and scope is just perfect… health and wealth to enjoy my friend…xoxoxoox
December 24, 2011 at 2:12 pm
HA-HA HA-HA… What? Are you nutz?
You’re gay, you’ve just got a new home and you think you’ll be done with the renovations in a few months? By mid summer you have a whole buncha new renovations you’ll want to start up. We’ll see… in “a few months.” Did DW really say that? BAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! ROTFLMAO
Next he’ll rescue another dog or two and a cat too. This is only the beginning.
December 24, 2011 at 2:15 pm
BTW, The house looks wonderful.
December 24, 2011 at 2:19 pm
Cool that you are getting a nice place, Davey.
It is funny that you talked about maybe getting pregnant. I read a few yaoi mangas where they make that happen to homosexuals in the future. Because of a big population drop.
December 24, 2011 at 4:49 pm
To Davey Wavey & everyone reading this blog,
Have a very great Merry Christmas and I hope Santa brings you everything you wanted.
Please don’t forget those less fortunate than us.
Love to all and Peace Out.
December 24, 2011 at 4:53 pm
Congrates on the new pad! Looks like it will be a great place. Any history behind it?
December 24, 2011 at 9:26 pm
Davey….you should consider a house cleansing ritual by someone who has that training and spiritual inclination. Almost every faith has something. I know some Faeries you could call upon. My version would have you open all the windows and doors, burn a smudge pot and welcome in a new spirit. Some can detect pirits and help to either usher them out or identify them as friendly.
December 25, 2011 at 2:46 am
Dave – I think your positive karma of getting a beautiful new residence is very deserved considering the help you provide to the gay community. Maybe a party is in order as soon as you get the keys. Keep it up!
– an avid reader.

I just think you have the best taste in decorating and can’t wait to see what you do with the new digs. Good luck in your new home…. You deserve it and btw I know a zillion gay bois have said it before but damn son you are a real hottie. Sorry. TTY soon
