As I bid farewell to the treehouse this morning (and the only 6 people within 40 miles on Grindr), the New Hampshire sky cried to see me go. Massachusetts had to get in on the action, too; heavy downpours made the state’s highways nearly impassible. Or maybe they were tears of joy and excitement as I open a new chapter in my life’s galactic adventures. Or else, it could just have been a coincidental passing rain shower.
Tears of joy or sadness, I was happy to be on my way. My batteries feel charged – fully charged – for the first time in a long time. And even with a lot on my plate, like my new fitness blog, and still a tight work schedule (though I’m leaving my “real” job soon, they’ve yet to give me an exit date), I feel like I have the energy to conquer the universe. Or maybe knit the world’s largest ball of yarn. Or at least make a talky blog about anal douching – yup, that one’s coming tomorrow.
With a nod to author James Baldwin, I met a lot of great people in New Hampshire. I even encountered myself. And as the tradition goes, I’m supposed to create a list of things that I learned on this most recent trip of mine. I’ll keep my list short, sweet and concise:
- I learned that farm boys are pretty much the sexiest thing I’ve ever beheld. Like, seriously.
- I was reminded that one of my goals needs to be moving in with the boyfriend; saying goodbye nearly broke my heart. He’s like a pair of glasses. Yeah, I can’t get along well enough with ‘em, but it sure does make the whole world a lot more enjoyable. That’s a limited analogy, but I think you know what I mean. I want to share as many moments with him as possible – and in a life as short as ours, each moment really counts.
- I learned that the risk of missing out is almost always greater than the probability of our fears coming to fruition.
I should have applied lesson #3 to lesson #1, and said something to the beautiful farm boy at my gym and risked the hate crime.
So now I’m back at my parents’ home in Rhode Island for a few days to participate in my cousin’s wedding. Next week, I’m heading to Google’s Mountain View, CA headquarters to present at a conference. I’ve never been to the Googleplex, and I’m absolutely tickled pink and looking forward to the transcontinental trip. Then, I’ll be moving back into my Rhode Island condo… though, not for long. I’ve got a trick or two (no, not that kind of trick) up my sleeve.

Whoa… What an adventure you had… You always have to lets say: have endurance in life..
I always like to see how life can be in many ways.. Like what you did for example… Living in a tree house…
Sometimes kids, rich kids, don’t see how hard it is for their parents to get to where they are… You always have to start somewhere.. You have to train youself to get to where you think what survival is/are…
Wheew i dont think i can do the treehouse life.. Sounds sooo hard… But you did it and i give you much props.. I hope you take what you learned from this experience with you.. Even though you didnt get a chance to meet the farm boy; next time you see something similar, go for it… Never lose a chance.. Life’s too short…
Welcome back to reality babe!

It’s nice to read Anatole France name on your blog, Davey. Did you know this French great writer promoted the faculty of imagining and feeling against the (sometimes) dry and boring scientific certainties ? “Knowing is nothing. Imagining is everything”, he used to say. Well, maybe for the hot farm boys, knowing (and touching) is better than fantasies… I have to think about that. Anyway, I wish you continue to feed your and our imagination every day, dear Davey.
Kisses from France to you all ! (the country, not the writer !)

Did you ever find out if the farm boy was gay? Oh and have fun on your new adventures, can’t wait to read more.

Wow, i think the whole world was sad to see you go, its been raining here in the UK all day and over the world according to twitter, Maybe its a sign?
August 25, 2010 at 7:46 pm
The rain means more to those who see it as more. I see it as a cleansing of not only the earth, but the soul. In a place where it never rains (Phoenix, AZ) I’ve come to see the true beauty of rain. It has meant love and a new opportunity.
Davey, when you are in Mountain View, do take a strol through Reinstorff park. Post pics if you do. That was my favorite park as a kid. It was huge compared to any other park I’ve ever been to. I miss my “home” town. (I’m originally from Monterrey, Nuevo León, México.
Enjoy. Everything!

Good to hear NH was uplifting for you and that you are back “home” now. Have a good time at the wedding.
Will the “uniform of the day” at Google be bikini’s and Speedo’s when you arrive or does that mean you must wear (ugh) business clothes? LOL. Have FUN in California DW.

How useful is grindr? I’m debating whether to invest in an iPod Touch just so I can use it.

OH MY GOSH!! I can’t wait to read what you have to say about douching! haha. Your tree house trip taught me things I never knew about(like venus dimples, yeah, super hot). Thank you so much! And what are you presenting at Google HQ?!~!? That’s crazy!

Meeting Google sounds exciting. I hope your trip to Mountain View will include a little time to visit San Francisco – such an amazing place.

Wait, the new ipod touch will be released soon.

Davey, just a quick FYI… while the the Googleplex is a free flowing exchange of information and ideas in a non-conformist setting you may have to… wear a shirt… I KNOW! I flail verbally just thinking about it but… I think it may be required there… oh, and have an awesome time *mwahs*

So, you’re going out of town for someone’s wedding. I once had sex with a male friend on the evening of the same day as his wedding. The circumstances were pretty special , though—.

You are going to love the Googleplex. I just watched a video about the place you are going (it also showed other Google offices around the world) and it’s something that I would think that you would design for your employees if you ran a big company like that. They really take care of their employees. Have fun.
