New Year’s Eve with Will

The curtains are closing on 2007.  The final hours are ticking away.

Tomorrow afternoon, Will and I are going to be traveling up to my condo (I’m in southern Rhode Island right now). We’re going to spend the night together, watching movies and making a talky blog – totally romantic. That boy has my heart in the palm of his hand. So stay tuned for that talky blog tomorrow – so that you, me and Will can ring in the new year together! Hey it beats Dick Clark, right?

So, it’s a time to reflect on the year past and the many lessons we’ve all learned. And as we look forward to the new year, we apply those lessons learned in the form of resolutions.

Maybe we’ve learned it’s time for change – perhaps in our relationships, our jobs, our friends, our priorities, or our perspective on life. My new year’s resolutions are as follows:

  • I will contribute more to my favorite charities
  • I will meditate at least once a day – hopefully twice
  • I will find a yoga studio in my new town
  • I will rent my condo and continue traveling
  • I will buy a flip camera to record talky blogs on the go

What is/are your new year’s resolutions? Leave your answer in the comments.

  1. Hmmm… let’s see. This year, I’ll take care more of myself. For the past months I have been taking care of other people. I neglected to stay healthy and fit. I look horrible! I lost confidence, I’m always depressed. So this year… it’s ME time!

    I’m totally jealous of you guys! My holidays sucks! I’m with people whom I don’t know (they’re my distant relatives) and I’m guessing I’ll be going there for New Years too. But I don’t want to go! I want to be with my family! But they’re not here…they live in different parts of the globe. I wish I have my close friends here but they’re in another country… I wan’t the school to start ASAP!

  2. Nice. I want to be able to kick my procrastination habit. And start playing my instruments again. And maybe cuss less? I think that last one is a bit iffy given my life style. >__> Oh well. It’s something to do for next year.

  3. New Years Resolutions: Actually start going to the gym, get a passport, and pay off at least one of my credit cards.

  4. Resolution: Be less judgemental, Resist materialism, Spend more time with friends and loved ones, Let them know how much they have made my life more complete and how much I love them , and continue reading your blog; Happy New Year ! Everyone. And Dave, I hope you will allow the way you feel about Will, tonight , to grow and flourish. Let go of your heart ,whatever fear of commitment you have, let it soar, life is too short. Peace.

  5. My resolution is to watch the NHL’s first outdoor game on New Year’s day at 1:00 pm Eastern featuring the Buffalo Sables hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins.

    1:00 pm eastern on NBC

  6. First outdoor game played in USA. There was one played in Canada previously.

  7. - Follow the schedule that I made for myself

    - Follow my new way of thinking ( this definitely was inspired by you)

    - Forget about material things

    - Find more understanding and sensitive friends, other than the ones I already have

    - Treat my family with as much respect as I would treat anyone else

  8. Resolution #1: Check your blog more often.

  9. well, actually my resolution is to learn how to let go (and probably go to gym).

    I realized some issues in my life with people are just because I simply care too much about what they think and how their opinions matter to me. So learning how to let go should be a major step for me to be truly happy and content with my life.

    Anyway, looking forward to you and adorable Will together in the talky blog soon..

    Happy becoming new year dave ;)

  10. I am going to read more books and blog more consistently. The WGA strike showed me there is more to life than the TV.

  11. Mine is to become an active auditioning actor.

    Ha, a flip camera? That has Rosie all over it!!!

  12. Happy New Year to everyone with special wishes to both Dave and Will!!! I hope you have a wonderful evening together and I’m looking forward to the talky blog.

    I’m still contimplating my resolutions for the year, however, one in particular that is absolute: I will become more positive in all I do, with whom I interact, and during all of my life’s situations that should arise. Try to make sure to stay positive during the day and remember that each day is a new day, fresh and clean, and not worry about what is behind or what lay ahead. Take care and have fun everyone!

  13. Be healthy.
    And make healthy choices.

    Be more honest.
    So much so that it hurts.

    Stand up for what I believe.
    And never back down.

    Continue to say what I mean and mean what I say.
    No regrets.
    Ever.

  14. Take better care of myself.
    Find more ME time.
    Better eating habits.
    Read more than I do now.
    Live well, laugh often, Love much.

    Happy New’s Everyone.

    I resolve to be more and more of myself!

    Happy New Year!

  17. Dear Davey

    I was so pleased to hear you say that Will has your heart in the palm of your hand. putting your heart in someone else’ hand is not the safest thing to do, but it is the most enriching thing. I pass my jeart around all the time.

    love

  21. I don’t really make new year’s resolutions. I’m hoping, though, to be more true to myself. The new year has already started here. For the first hour and a half I’ve managed to stay true to myself.

  22. -I will share my light with more people
    -Start concentrating my light via meditation at least once day
    -Kick down my shopping addiction
    -Shine even brighter
    -Let go
    - …

  23. Well actually to make a New Year’s Resolution would be breaking last year’s one not to make any more so I do not disappoint myself when I do not meet it.

  24. - Take care of myself rather than forgetting that I’m here too.
    - Heal.
    - Learn more and faster everyday.
    - Doing all this in an easy-going way, with a clear mind.

  25. Okay….i know that this might be a bit off topic but is anyone else curious as to what Will is to Davey; more than a friend, a booty call, a fudge buddy, what is it?
    Anywho I think for the new I should try to be a bit less nosy, don’t u think? lol

  26. My resolution for 2008:

    To accept who I really am and find my ultimate love, unlike you, I have no idea where to start from, so, wish you all the best with Will :)

  27. okay okay maybe this is one of the non-special resolution but i wanna stop smoking!
    its unhealthy, its expensive (u could spend the money on other wonderful things) and it is a dangerous addiction (not to mention that it smells bad!) so dont even start^^

  28. Happy New Year everyone!

    Dave, I love your blog!

    I want to make the best of each of the 365 (?) days of 2008. In particular:

    – to maintain the friendships I have, and to make some new, lasting friendships, with the goal, as you have said, of seeing the world through someone else’s eyes;
    – to get the best out of myself and of others (somehow);
    – to train consistently in my sports (triathlon), rather than the stop-start approach that has been unavoidable until recently. I would really like to move up a lane or two in my swimming club by June;
    – to write two research papers by the end of the year (toward my PhD);
    – to do something to help tackle climate change (not sure what yet!);
    – to live according to the following quote:

    Look well to this day,
    For it is Life…
    The very best of life!
    In its brief course lie all
    The Realities and Truths of Existence:
    The Joy of Growth!
    The Splendour of Action!
    The Glory of Power!
    For Yesterday is but a memory,
    And Tomorrow is only a vision;
    But Today, well-lived,
    Makes every yesterday a memory of happiness,
    And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
    Look well, therefore, to THIS day.

    Cheers from England!
