update: I didn’t even realize it until now – but this is my 500th post! What a great milestone for all of us! Happy 500th post!
Don’t you just love rainy mornings? Especially lazy, rainy Saturday mornings. So beautiful.
Once upon a time, two and a half years ago, I lived in Chelsea in New York City. It was back in my university days, and I was working at an unpaid internship in a public relations firm (which thankfully showed me that PR wasn’t my career path) and paying 8 dollars for a box of cereal. Oh, New York.
What an interesting summer it turned out to be.
At any rate, there is a very famous bakery in a very gay part of New York known as the West Village. It’s called Magnolia Bakery. And it’s amazing. At least once or twice a week, I’d stop by for one of their famous cupcakes. It became a little ritual of sorts – treating myself to something special. I’d walk along the Hudson River to the Chelsea Piers and inhale the cupcake in a bite or two.
For Christmas, my sister gave me the Magnolia Bakery Cookbook. Among the recipes, their famous cupcakes. After several hours of baking, here are the resulting treats:

Yum! If you want to recipe, leave a comment – I’d post it here but I suspect many of you don’t really care. Their banana cream pudding recipe is also amazing – I made that last night as well!
Speaking of my university days, my good friend from school, Matt, is on his way to visit. We’re going to do Boston today, once the rain stops. And, we’re going to do a talky blog.
I have a few ideas for things we should discuss. Unfortunately (well, perhaps fortunately for you!), the talky blogs are limited to ten minutes so we can only pick a topic or two. Here’s what I was thinking – but if you have a topic idea of your own, leave it in the comments:
- Manhunt Vs. Craigslist Vs. Myspace: how to find a gay
- Why everyone is secretly a freak
- University stories
- Why Matt and I always made the school paper
Let me know what you want us to talk about! And check back later for the talky blog.
Happy Saturday blog buddies!

That sounds really good! I’m not a big fan of anything with frosting, but I’d love the recipe for the banana cream pudding if you don’t mind. Or is that not for gabs? Keep up the great Blogs!
