When artist Robert Rainone asked permission to create a piece of art based on one of my blog images, I said sure. But under one condition: That he’d let us auction off the finished piece to benefit The Trevor Project. The Trevor Project is the leading organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBT youth.
Many of you may recognize the image as one from my blog’s header. According to Rob:
While his body is hard-earned and attention worthy, I didn’t want to gloss over what I think his real gifts are… his irreverent yet relevant vision and a sharp sense of humor. What better way to do that than to showcase his eyes?
To create the image, Rob layered colored mats. The mats were then cut away to reveal their colors and build the image.
I’m thrilled with how the signed 16″ x 20″ piece turned out – and I’m sure that it will make a great addition to any home. In addition, I’ll be writing an autographed message on the reverse side of the artwork.
With 100% of the auction funds going directly to The Trevor Project and their LGBT suicide prevention programs, please bid generously.

Very interesting, Davey.

Thank you for doing your part to support the Trevor project. It’s so distressing, every time that I hear about yet another LGBT teen (or gay youth) who’s taken his/her life, in part because of issues related to sexual orientation (i.e. acceptance by friends/family/self, HIV status if such is a factor, etc). I’ll admit that you’ve a nice body but as with the bodies of each one of us, we cannot help but age and change over time. The REAL treasure is the spirit of the soul that lives within; thanks for taking the opportunity to allow your own to shine and to do what you can for a good cause.
