  Your photo of that Japanese-looking structure brings something to mind I wanted to share with you. If you’re interested in a mind-blowing side trip one day, head south on CityRail to a city called Wollongong. Get off at Unanderra station – a couple of stops south. Take a cab to Nan Tien Buddhist Temple. It is the largest Buddhist temple outside Asia in the Southern Hemisphere. A visit there will add 10 years to your life. It’s SO peaceful and so wonderful to see how the monks live and to learn about real Buddhism. It’s only an hour or so south of Sydney and I recommend it without hesitation.

  On your way to or from there, stop in a town called Stanwell Park and visit the hang gliding club. It’s on a cliff overlooking this quaint little town – a total surfer’s hideaway. The views are literally breathtaking.

  Oh… And if you want to see mountains take the train to Katoomba and beyond into the Blue Mountains. SPECTACULAR!!

I was there for Christmas a few years ago and I was struck by the fact that their decorations are brightly colored and meant to be seen in broad daylight.
