Each week, I feature a new coming out story through a YouTube channel called OutStories. Have a webcam? Share your coming out story today.
Because it’s a secret that so many of us hide for so long, coming out feels like a big deal. And it is. But the thing is, it’s not always a big deal to our friends and family.
It’s easy to forget that the majority of people don’t give two shits – and are too busy going about their own lives to think twice about our love for the penis.
Along the same vein, watch Nathaniel’s story to hear how his mom reacted when he came out as bisexual.

I think that’s a good reaction. The “I still love you” response that so many have is kind of funny because most parents would still love their children if they went to jail for murder. OK, so being gay is better than being a murderer.

is it just me, or does his family’s reaction seem…so…typically british?
February 12, 2012 at 4:48 am
Yup! Or just european in general:)

Too right. Emotion is overdone and should be avoided when in public.

If only I were British…

Beautifully British

I actually had a very similar experience…. I told my mom that I’m bi, and she was quiet, so I asked her, what? you don’t have any questions or anything? she went on to say, no, I know what it means and this and that… it was almost a letdown for being so much easier than I expected. I guess for the lucky folks who get this type of response it almost feels like our parents don’t even care, but it IS definitely easier and better than for those who react negatively.

I know that Davey is writing about the inner beauty all the time, but he could reconsider posting an ugly guy on his blog next time, as to be honest, all of the people here, how many of us clicked on his youtube video because we were searching for inner beauty? Probably no-one…we saw a hot guy wearing nothing but his hot pecs and nipples and we were attracted. So, to celebrate our superficiality, let’s post and write only about hot people. Thx

@Alex:
I think I understand,and agree with what you’re saying,BUT: Speaking as one of the most sarcasm -prone people in this solar system,I feel that in this case your sarcasm may be under-mining your message.
Also,ironically,the charming man who is the subject of today’s video,is on of the more physically unattractive people we’ve seen in a while.
As I’ve commented several times before on BTI,Davey’s physique is not what attracted e to this site.He’s not my type_(nice nips,though).Can’t really remember,but I think it was chance that led me here.I know that it took me a while to get my suspicion of BTI as a commercial venture_a sales tool.What keeps me hooked is the open forum here,the sharing of experiences,opinions,questions & advice.

My parents were very happy when I said them that I was gay… My mother was like “I’m so happy you’re not straight”. Very strange, but cool.

February 12, 2012 at 6:42 pm

@Davey Wavey:,@ Everyone:
Davey,I’m glad your Out Story today features a bi-sexual.
I felt that the “Bi now,Gay Later” post a few months ago gave short shrift to bi people,as if they don’t exist,or that, to quote the annoying gay-identity denying phrase :”It’s only a phase”,or worse another form of denial. To me the important thing is to acknowledge,and ,absent essential negative
effects,accept everyone.
Thanks!!

I´d rather be perfect. I´d rather be bisexual… Woody Allen said once that being bi is great, because that increases your chances to succed on the saturday nights….
Davey, I usually read your posts on gay people who come out and know about your work to avoid suicide. Why don´t you start a series on gay celebrities? That would give your blog a positive image about so many gay and lesbian people during the History. Yesterday I read about Alan Turing, and I was really taken with that Story.

This guy is adorable and his story brought a huge smile to my face.
February 13, 2012 at 11:48 pm
That was kind of funny.
February 14, 2012 at 12:03 pm
Haha! You’re all correct, typically British!
I bet the next thing she said was, “make me a cup of tea, please.”
February 16, 2012 at 7:02 am
How wrong you all are, this guy was just lucky.
I can assure you not all british people are accepting as this guys parents!

Main thankies for that article. Amazing.
