From MySpace (2007) to Manhunt (2009) to Grindr (2011), gay photography has changed over the last half decade. To guide you through the not-so-subtle evolution, I’ve created the following photo-series.
MySpace – 2007
The overhead cellphone shot become the quintessential MySpace photo. If you take an overhead picture in the bathroom, remember to flush the toilet.
Manhunt – 2009
What would Manhunt be without page after page of cropped c*ck shots? Pictures like these came to define the site. And yes, the picture is totally fake. 
Grindr – 2011
Grindr ushered in the era of headless homos. Though with stricter photo guidelines than online dating sites, Grindr has become home to millions of disembodied or headless torsos.
And thus concludes our tour through the evolution in the last half-decade of gay photography. I hope you enjoyed this presentation.

I never ventured onto myspace for very long, manhunt was a nice diversion for as long as I used it, and grindr has become somewhat of a puzzle to me. But the photo “examples” are all pretty accurate.
