A few weeks ago, I started keeping a gratitude journal. Each night before bed, I write five things for which I’m thankful.
Flipping through the pages, I realize that it is the “little things” that most warm my heart: the time with my grandparents, witnessing a sunrise, or sharing a meal with a friend.
Each day, these “little things” unfold all around us – most often, unnoticed.
It’s still very early, but as my dog and I awoke this morning, I saw the way she looked at me (it reminded me of the quote, “I pray to be half the person my dog thinks I am”). Taking her outside, I beheld the beautiful and penetrating silence that is pre-dawn. And coming back inside, I’m able to spend a few moments to connect with you through my blog.
It is all of these little things, noticed or unnoticed, for which I am thankful on this Thanksgiving holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving, and may your day be full of little things.

Reflecting on this day humbles me. Always amazes me when looking back over the year as to how blessed I am. One of those blessings comes in the form of you Davey. I’m not sure what the days would be like without you in them. You certainly put a sparkle in my everyday. Remember….you are loved!! And yeah it’s early…..my fav part of the day!

My cat Bill, who was with me for 11 of his 18 years, showed me what true innocence is. You just look in the eyes of an animal. They bless us. I miss him badly.

Wishing a H A P P Y . T H A N K S G I V I N G to you, Davey, and all the Blogbuddies celebrating it in the States. There is so much to be thankful for in all aspects of life, personall, nationally, and globally. It’s good to take a fresh mental and spiritual look at life around us.
I was thrilled to know that you were nearby, here in Toronto during the summer. It’s amazingly mild here this autumn, and has meant that we have seen more gradations of change in nature around us than those years that catapult from the summer to winter in big leaps.
Enjoy Black Friday, Shoppers! It sounds frantic to an outsider, but I guess it’s like stoking the fires today for the frenzy tomorrow. Enjoy changing gears!
Love,
Doug

In Canada our Thanksgiving was in October – and it’s almost over in the U.S. as I write, but I still want to hope you, Davy, (and all the commenters here) had a Happy Thanksgiving. Most of all, your blog today is so sweet and so sensitive – just like you. Thanks, once again, for just being you and for helping so many, many people.
Hugs and luv.

Canada Thanksgiving occurs same weekend as Columbus Day in the States-Thanksgiving essentially is a Harvest Festival-just like Oktoberfest in Germany.the nice thing about the Holiday in Canada-a great weekend for a drive-visit relatives and friends-fall colours-and that upcoming hockey season-if you are so inclined.

So I’m curious. You say you’re “allergic” to shirts and if your photo’s are any indication you spend most of your time in your underwear, so…
What do you wear to walk your dog?

I wanted to share something I did today (and this will make sense I swear).
Today was my Art History teacher’s B-day and last week she promised cake to the class, but because of a high stress meeting running long she was unable to do so.
So during the break (the class is 3 hours) I went to the Safeway across the street and got a cake, plates, napkins, and forks. I returned to have the class sing and cheer for her and change her mood from gloomy and depressed to cheerful. It was beautiful.
I’m greatful for this, but I would not have done this if I hadn’t found you Davey Wavey. So I wanted to express my gratitude to you for inspiring me to make the world a happier place.

I’m really glad to see “time with my grandparents” is on your gratitude list, Davey. My grandmother passed away last week at 90 years old from a massive stroke. As I think is natural when anyone passes, I thought of all of the wonderful time we’d spent together and in doing so realized that my time with her was one area of my life where I have no regrets. Many people take their grandparents (and, indeed, everyone in their life) for granted and don’t bother to be grateful for the time they have with them. It’s important to remember that everyone is precious and every moment you spend with them is as well.
