On one hand, It seems like it was just yesterday when I arrived in Sydney, Australia. On the other hand, it feels like I’ve had a lifetime’s worth of adventures. I’ve visited countless beaches, seen remarkable animals (though no kangaroos!), eaten Vegemite, and even met a few good friends along the way.
In just a few hours, my plane departs back to the United States. Farewell, Australia! See you soon (hopefully!), Mitch! It is the end of yet another chapter in my life.
And the beginning of another. I’m not sure what happens next; I don’t know who I am, what I want or where I am going.
Right now, I have just one intention: To continue sharing my love with this universe. And in a special way, I intend to do a better job of sharing that love with the people with whom I share a close connection.
So, back to Rhode Island for the time being. I feel a big announcement looming, but let’s not put the carriage before the horse.
In the meantime, before I depart on my 28-hour plane ride, I want to thank you for sharing this experience with me. The world is even more amazing when you have someone to share it with, and in some way, this adventure was amplified because I shared it with you. Thank you for joining me in Sydney. And I look forward to our next adventure… which starts…. NOW.

Davey,
I am so glad you had a good time here in Aussie, but wonder why you didn’t see a kangaroo?>:)
Holidays can throw spanners in our life as well as being fantastic learning curves. I hope yours was the second, and the note you wtote on Australia Day, and life being better shared was the best, and most moving you ever wrote. Life really is meant to be shared!

January 27, 2010 at 7:19 pm
I SO know what you are talking about. leaving soon for a long trip to Africa I just realised how wonderful the people are that are close to me.
I also have two ideas of your announcement, two exactly opposite things.
yet I’ll wait what it is, I’ll then tell you if I was right
January 27, 2010 at 8:15 pm
Thanks for making us part of the adventure!
January 27, 2010 at 9:58 pm
When you flew to Australia, you ‘lost’ a Saturday on the trip over; perhaps you can look for it on the way back. Although I have a feeling you might find a Thursday, instead.
Welcome home.
January 27, 2010 at 10:27 pm
I sooooo hope your announcement is a move to Toronto. I think you know you’ve met the one and it wasn’t Mitch (hot as he was)… Time to get rid of the distance and international border!
January 28, 2010 at 5:47 am
Yes!
January 28, 2010 at 9:56 am
i was thinking the same thing.
January 28, 2010 at 4:26 pm
A man can marry a man in Canada. He will be a citizen of the Commonwealth. That includes Australia, New Zealand, The United Kingdom, and yes still India and many island nations and some countries in Africa. Unfortunately Fiji was suspended mere months ago. To be a true citizen of the world, it doesn’t get better than that making international borders somewhat irrelevant. I implore all of you to correct people when they think being in America that they are only referring to the U.S. I’m sick of people say they only want to buy American when the car they want is in fact made in Canada or even Mexico. America includes South America too. Volkswagen enjoys the market of North America having a large market in the U.S. while offering little if any discounts, manufacturing the cars in Mexico making substantial profits. (That’s not an exact quote, but the guy who said it to me also said there would only be one U.S. car company, we did not want to confirm with each other what that was as it was in front of a lot of other people, and it literally would have been diplomatic suicide even though the answer was painfully obvious.)It appears that companies are going international. If you find out what Volkswagen owns you’ll laugh. If you find out who Chrysler is owned by you may laugh harder. (That relationship is on the rocks I’m afraid. It’s not Daimler anymore and they should have dumped them a lot sooner than they did? What were they thinking?)

January 28, 2010 at 12:02 am

Chase
January 28, 2010 at 12:39 am
I take it you didn’t eat Kangaroo either. I hear it’s s**t. I hear reindeer are good, but I won’t take a plane to Norway to find out. But I hear a cruise ship there doing Scandinavia and St. Petersberg is great. The world is your oyster, not much a fan of those but I’d like to give you a “pearl necklace.”
January 28, 2010 at 1:40 am
I really enjoyed kangaroo meat when I was in Aus. It was quite tasty. Emu, on the other hand… Ewww.
January 28, 2010 at 5:04 pm
I remembered when prepubescent girls would say that all the time in a chorus in the early 60′s. Thanks for the memory. Love it. Ewww!
January 28, 2010 at 1:30 am
Breaking up on the telephone is just about as lame as receiving a “pink E-Mail” as some are getting at their jobs when their told they’re no longer. I have received neither, fortunately. But I have had bad sex and bad pizza for those of you thought there was no such thing–your time will come, trust me.
January 28, 2010 at 2:21 am
Twinky Davey Wavey, the twinks of Sydney will miss you.
January 28, 2010 at 4:31 am
I am sure you will not miss the “Vegemite”. At least you gave it a try. Safe journey and looking forward to your next post.
January 28, 2010 at 4:59 pm
I’m thinking of the good times I had in West Hollywood when they would play the Vitavitavegimin segment from “I love Lucy,” at the Blue Parrot. I was working on Sunset and Fairfax when she died. All of us were balling over Lucile Ball. Customers, co-workers myself, strangers. Someone said “It’s like when Kennedy was shot.” It kind of was, a lot of people in town left work early. They pulled the video after she died at the “Blue Parrot.” The guy said we don’t want to have another Stonewall. ( the Stonewall riots occured after the death of Judy Garland, who famously said “If it wern’t for people like you my audiance would be quite smaller.”

(the Stonewall riots occured after the death of Judy Garland)
Well there’s a “supposed” piece of Gay history, I’ve never heard before.
Did you make that up all by yourself?
January 28, 2010 at 5:00 am
Davey, Thanks so much for sharing us your happy moment, hope to seeing u at the land of smile (Bangkok) sometime, here too many tasty wating for u….let try
January 28, 2010 at 5:15 pm
I love it when “Stifler” swats one of his castmates stiffy and says “Bang c**k.” The guy went on the ground in pain. True story.
January 28, 2010 at 7:22 am
Davey, think long and hard before you make “that” announcement…..give your emotions some healing-time, you know what I mean!…x
January 28, 2010 at 7:39 am
Davey Wavey..Will be glad to see you back at my place in Jerszzy..and nice to see you haven’t been shaving your leg hairs like you do your chest hair..Guess you know there are still some of us that would like to see that chest hair you shave off ALL the time..Never figured why you shave there..By the way..you can put that speedo back in moth balls as we are having snow in Jerszzy today..so prepare to shine UP your shovel..
…Love “your” David
January 28, 2010 at 9:07 am
Yes it’s snowing in New Jersey but it’s a beautiful snowstorm – one of those that just takes your breath away. It’s about time!
And and emphatic “YES” to the chest hairs! Leave ‘em on, Davey! Hairy is HOT!!!
Safe travels, Davey. I’m glad you had a good time. And it appears you’ve had some good mind-opening experiences about life and loving. Especially with regard to Mitch.
Love,
Tom

I hate it when guys go bald eagle like prepubescent. I don’t know if I despise that more or the guys who trim so much their pubes look like topiary. Straight guys are constantly doing it now and they love to show me because they get off on me being pissed at them for it. I feel like calling my sister and ask her if they still make “Nair” a hair removal liquid used in the 60′s to remove leg hair. I wanted to test it out. She told me she wasn’t going to be buying it again and wouldn’t wish it on her worst enemy let alone her brother.
January 28, 2010 at 7:46 am
Welcome back, Davey. I hope you have more pictures of your time Down Under.
January 28, 2010 at 8:15 am
Ross England, i agree with you on what Davey should do regarding “his announcement.” … Also, Davey, we all thank-you
for our “virtual-trip” with-you to Australia. L and P to “All”, – - – davvi
January 28, 2010 at 8:20 am
Davey, since you did such an excellent task of
keeping us all posted and updated, we felt like we were right there with you. And even though we had a great time, I now find it’s time to come home and get some crap done ! Haha. I’m glad to hear you had a grand time, and thank you for sharing it with us all.
Lots of love and hugs !
January 28, 2010 at 9:04 am
Go back to that man of yours in T.O. and share some love.
January 28, 2010 at 9:26 am
Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. Safe travels, not only in the air, but in your heart too. In the midst of change, may you be at peace with the unknown, wherever your journey may take you.
Remember if you keep things in this order you will experience the JOY of life daily:
Jesus/universe – always put your faith first
Others – before yourself
You – but don’t ever forget the you part
In balance and proper order, one experiences the JOY of life, even in the midst of the unknown
Peace out my friend
January 28, 2010 at 9:52 am
I’m staggered by your public honesty. Bravo to you, and good luck. My only point of difference, is that you don’t always need someone to share life’s experiences with – if you are waiting for someone, then sometimes something magical can pass you by.
January 28, 2010 at 11:44 am
You know that many of your readers live “through” you and some live “with” you with your website. This journey to Austrailia has been a good trip for all of us. Thanks for sharing.

January 29, 2010 at 2:05 am
I can say by the expression on your face and the color pf the photographs that you don’t feel too happy to be leaving sun and fun and good looking young men behind to go back to a city still experiencing winter.
I hope you bring some sunshine and good feelings with you on your flight back.
Cheers! (Hey, at least your thighs won’t be blinding anymore!!)
January 29, 2010 at 3:36 am
Have a safe flight back
January 29, 2010 at 9:47 am
