  1. Love is joyous freedom in a warm embrace of feelings that you never want to end. It is the thought that make you smile, giggle, or even laugh.

Love is a purity of acceptance where you always feel safe. You are not judged but helped to grow and thrive.

Love is a flutter of a heart, a long gaze, a sweet smile, and a comfortable silence. It knows no bounds but those we place upon it.

Love is in all of us, if we choose to accept it and nurture it to grow.

And Davey love is one man reaching out, taking the time to stop and listen, teach, and be a good example.

Love is…an endless source of power, if we choose it.

  2. DW bravo. Love also speaks truth. I don’t know if anyone has noticed but the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), just released a troubling report. HIV/AIDS and other STD’s are rising at an alarming rate among active gay men. The reports the following:

“men who have sex with men” suffer 53 % of new HIV infections reported each year, although they compose only 2% percent of the American population. “ HIV diagnoses among active homosexuals’ in the US is more than 44 times of that of other men”, the CDC reports. While the rate of HIV infection among other risk groups (such as drug users) has declined, the CDC survey shows, the infection rate among active homosexuals continues at an alarming rate.

Okay what is going on guys? Unsafe sex practices. Since the gay community is not about to condone chastity we must educated other gay men especially youth the proper use of condoms.

I find it appalling and disgusting most gay activist websites won’t touch the stuff or even publish this horrific finding. The gay community is failing. We MUST promote safe sex practices. I for one think gay activist websites need to stop worrying about who the newest gay is, the newest hottest guy is, bashing of religious faiths, and all the other silly nonsense and have the courage to educate and prevent these STDS.

Is it going to be 1980′s all over again? How many gay men must die till we wise up show honor, strength? I have went to many gay websites today and yesterday and not one showed these horrific stats. If fact none of these website even talk about safe sex practices. This is appalling and disgusting. We have brains…don’t you think it is time we use them?

  3. dear davey wavey – god bless you for your dedication, and for your moving post yesterday; those boys, and the countless others like them, must never be forgotten. this insanity must stop. – love, jonathan L

  4. AWESOME! Simply AWESOME. What else is there to say except…I love you my brother!

  5. On ne voit bien qu’avec le cœur. L’essentiel est invisible pour les yeux

That is what love means to me :)

  6. DW, Forgive me. Yes may these two boys rest in eternal peace. May God Bless their families and we offer up our prayers for their loss.

  7. God Davey, I LOVE you (:
Also, I think love is happiness…
    xoxoxo
    r.i.p.

  8. I just read this shocker the other day: 1 in 5 gay men is HIV+ and of those 1, 44% don’t know it.

  9. love is being carefree. love is inspiring.. and hey, i love you davey!!!

  10. Love is an open heart that is blind to all of our differences, sees only the souls/beings that are living in our physical bodies, and radiates unconditional oneness, empathy, and compassion to all of those souls/beings.

    Peace, Love, and Truth

  11. Hey Davey Wavey,
I found this quote and after reading it it sums up what i believe love means to many of us.

Love is patient , Love is kind love does not envy and does not boast, Love is not proud nor is it rude. Love is not self seeking nor easily angered. Love keeps no record of wrongs nor does it delight in evil. Love rejoices in the truth. Love protects, trusts, and hopes. Love bears all things, believes all things and last but defently not least love endures all things. Let us also remember love never ends eventhough the realionship or our time on this earth may. Peace and Love.

Davey here is another quote i found and also liked.

Love is more then three words mumbled before bedtime. Love is sustained by action, a pattern of devotion in the things we do for each other every day.

    Anthony Gallo ( Pennsylvinia )

  12. Fear need not be a negative emotion. It has many great benefits. I doubt there is little love being shown for the children who teased the gay youths. Maybe I have missed the point of this post, I was distracted by the hockey mask …

  13. Awesome davey! you continue to inspire me on a DAILY basis! Lots ‘o’ love!!! XOXO -Stu

  14. i think we all were at some point in the same condition as Seth and Asher, and so I believe we all know what it really feels like to be unloved and hopeless. I can honestly say that it was my best friend who saved me from ending up the same way. My friend is one of the few people on this earth that I love unconditionally with all my heart. no homo. haha

  15. This list is so simple and yet very helpful. I think I’m going to develop it into a piece of art for my wall, and then keep checking it to ensure that whatever I’m feeling is coming from Love more than Fear. Thanks Davey (and Tiny Buddha)

  16. I heard this song on the radio and thought of the stories of Tyler Clementi, Asher Brown, and Seth Walsh. Someday…

  17. To me, love means knowing that we are all one; despite our physical separation our souls comprise a singular entity with many facets. It means believing that I can separate a person from his or her actions and behaviours, believing the person to be intrinsically good and whole and judging only his or her behaviours. It means that I allow the divine essence in me to acknowledge, honour and adore the divine essence in others.

I’d like to dedicate another song to those poeple out there who have need for support and love:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEMTBs9FHbc

    Noli nothis permittere te terere.

  18. In every heart there is a room
    A sanctuary safe and strong
To heal the wounds from lovers past
Until a new one comes along

I spoke to you in cautious tones
You answered me with no pretense
And still I feel I said too much
My silence is my self defense

And every time I’ve held a rose
It seems I only felt the thorns
And so it goes, and so it goes
And so will you soon I suppose

  19. The first quote is one of my favourites. I was actually about to post it when I saw that you beat me to it!

I also like the second one.

    Thanks for the post!

  20. I’ve been watching a lot of “Xena: Warrior Princess” lately, and I was struck by a story that Xena’s companion, Gabrielle, told to Hercules’ companion.

Once upon a time, humans had two heads, four legs and four arms. Then one day the Gods decided to throw down lightning bolts that split the humans in two, but they still shared the same soul. Since that day, we long to find the other half of our soul, and search endlessly until we find it. When we do, it’s love that binds us together again.

    Awww…. :D

  21. Just giving and giving till your heart is completely full.

  22. I thought I recognized parts of the 1st quote: They come from the “love chapter” in the Bible – 1 Corinthians 13.

  23. Love affirms life. Love includes.

  24. Hey Thomas H, that’s a story from Plato’s ‘Symposium’ that they were referencing there. If you ever catch a movie called ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’, you’ll find an excellent rock song based on the story, too.

  25. You looked damn sexy in that witches hat, not that you don’t always look sexy.

  26. Love is not a simple matter, as much as we would like it to be. Love comes in many colors and types. There is brotherly love, romantic love, self-love, sacrificial love, paternal love, and others. Love is first and foremost a conscious choice. A deliberate decision to love this person because of some quality of attraction. True love is self-less and is willing to sacrifice some part of yourself for the benefit of the one you love.

Lust is not love. That is selfish gratification. The emotion we call love is not the truest form of love. The emotion is fickle and transitory and can fade with time. Real love is a choice of devotion to another for self-less reasons. It stands the test of time and reinforces the emotion of love. This is when the emotion of love is true and real.

  28. Aaron,

Your words are wise and true. I agree with you all the way. I would love to dialogue with you so we could share our insights. Seb

I think I know what you mean by “love is self-less.” Unfortunately, many gays who struggle to accept there own self find it difficult to appreciate that true self-love and selfless love are not opposites. Love is not a zero-sum game!!!

  29. I love youuuuuuuuuuu !!!!!!!! you is beatifullll where you from? camom brazil cat,I´m succer you dick any more !!!!!!!!! kisses

  30. Love is everything to me. It’s comfort, it’s what keeps us going, it’s what makes us human. Love is what makes me smile in the morning, and what keeps me smiling at night.
    Love is life.

  31. I think Aaron hit the nail on the head regarding love being a conscious choice. I think I read that somewhere before…maybe “the Road Less Traveled,” not sure.

Anyway, I do believe there is a yin and a yang of joy and pain associated with love.

  32. Hey Davey,

To be honest love can sometimes be great the thing is that the more you love someone and the more that they love you, the more painful loving becomes. Sometimes it’s because you know them so well that you can’t imagine doing anything but being there for them and if they end up having a trial or tribulation to deal with it can be very very painful. Yet it’s that love that makes the endurance worthwhile yet. You know I would rather to have loved and experience the most painful things in life than to never have loved at all. To be honest even when love is good it kind of hurts. Some days I am so full of love that my physical body experiences pain because I feel so full of love that it feels like my body is about to be ripped apart from filling up too much. Kind of how as a balloon is filled with air it presses and presses against the sides of the balloon have not had it burst but still I guess you get what I mean.

    Kenneth R. Livingston

  33. I could burst out in song…”Love is a many splendid thing…” but that probably won’t work with my voice so I’ll go a different way. I worked very hard from my teen year on thinking that I needed to be like my father in the money department. But when dad died from Alzheimers at an age he should have been enjoying life with my mother I realized there were more important things. So, I retired early, turning my company over to my two sons with the advise, don’t let this consume you. Enjoy your life, your family and your time on this earth. My partner and I settled into a life of travel and spent as much time together as possible. That came to an end one night at the hands of a drunk driver and two police officers ringing my doorbell. All the happiness I knew was gone in just a few words that started with “Sir, we’re sorry to tell you…”.
The numbness, the pain, the anger and hatred, the emptiness seemed to live in me. Nothing my sons or friends did could take all that away until one day a friend came to my home and dragged me away, forcing me to accept what had happened. He made me realize that my sons were suffering as were their wives and my grandchildren.
Well, as they say, time heals all and I slowly rejoined the world. Never thinking that love would come my way and if it did, would I want it?
What is that saying? When you’re not looking for love… It’s so true. On a trip to Switzerland love walked right up to me and asked if it could help. Sitting at a café trying to get the server to understand what I wanted (my French was, and still is, horrible) a young man walked up to me and offered to help. I asked if he would join me and rescue me from any further translation problems. Long and short of it is this, his gaydar works sooo much better than mine and offering to help was his way of getting to talk to me. We spent a good bit of time together during the few days I had left with him offering to be my tour guide. I left for home with email address in hand and promises on both sides to stay in touch. We sure did. We’ve been living together now just over three years in Switzerland. With a 22 year age difference I never thought it would work but so far, so good and it only seems to get better.
All of that to say, to me, love is finding someone who knows your what your baggage is and is willing to step in and help you carry it.
And Davey? You’ll find peeing in the shower fills you with love as well. :)

  34. I found the post on tinybuddha very helpful, too. Thanks for your blog.

  35. Love is forever. Relationships may shatter, hatred may build, but love remains even if only a sliver is left. Love is eternal.

  36. What is love? love is the most incredible thing in the world! Love is what makes us better. when I look at pictures of Earth taken from satellites at night I see the glowing city in the dark. And I know that in each of these cities, someone loves someone else.
