I’m back in Rhode Island (safe and sound – even after eating airport sushi!), but obviously I couldn’t resist the urge to do a nudism-themed talky blog while visiting Palm Springs. Click below to watch the video:

If I were there… sure, I’d see what it was like to go naked. Why not

Would I get naked at a clothing-optional mise-en-scène? Were I blessed to be there, & if courage didn’t totally forsake me, Sure. Why not? I’m both voyeur & exhibitionist, so a win-win deal!
Really interesting post (& range of comments), Dave! Thanks!

I haven’t read the other posts because you put it so succinctly, whether it’s a gay or straight adult resort, it will be sexually charged. If it’s a naturalist “resort” I’d still be suspect. If it was a clothing optional naturalist commune in the middle of the forest, NO PROBLEMS whatsoever! I wouldn’t think twice about going naked there, but on the other hand I’d never go somewhere like that.
Well said Dave, I really like the way you think and more so the way you just pluck a topic that’s quite obvious, but never really thought about or discussed and just lay it out in such a matter of fact way and go………. discuss. Are you sure you weren’t born an Aussie?

No!
Too many hormones at the moment, I’d just make a fool of myself, which wouldn’t be a good thing (obviously)

Yes, I would be naked. I have been going to clothing optional camps, guest houses, inns and beaches for 30 years! Some have been more sexually charged than others. However, I have never had sex with any one other than my partner while there. And, not in public areas.

I’ve been to a couple clothing optional gay establishments. One is a large gay campground / resort in Hernando county in Florida called “saw Mill” Of course gay men and women sexualize everything. Current “gay” culture is based on sex. I wish we could all just be people who happen to be attracted to members of the same sex and have lives based on who we are rather than our sexual orientation. I realize we’ve had a battle to fight to just be who we are. Hopefully that battle will be over in the not too distant future and we can be just “the boys next door”. I love being the boy next door – average build, dark blond guy in T-shirt and jeans or shirtless. Yes, I have been nekkid in those gay establishments. Yes, you get the looks and sometimes its difficult telling some guys NO! It comes with the territory! Thanks Davey!

I just came out of the closet last September and even i don’t have any problem with public nudity. I’m also very open minded on the subject. i mean i have friends who are ‘gays for pays’ and thats their thing, ive seen the almost all of them naked already…so ya i don’t really see the big deal in all this. i hope David had fun during his little trip(even if it probably means nothing to him at this point. all im really trying to say is if you have an open mind none if this should bother you, and keep in mind they chose to go there so its not really any of our business…

Oh I Would… That’s how life started. 1 naked man and 1 naked women… even with thousands of GAY Men.

Whether nudity is sexual or not depends on how sexualised the environment is and the attitude of yourself and the other people there. I don’t think there’s anything particularly unique about gay men and nudity being sexual. Rather, there are quite a lot of places like INNdulge that are for gay men only and, as soon as you create a closed environment with clientele restricted to those who will be sexually interested in one another, you’re going to create a sexual environment. As others have noted, that cruisy atmosphere will probably exist even without the nudity. A situation is established where everyone is a potential sexual partner for everyone else. It’s obviously going to be less sexual on a clothing optional beach where anyone can walk by rather than a private property where some will undoubtedly have the aim of taking you back up to their room. The easier it is for sex to happen, the more likely it will. The worse behaviour I’ve seen from nude men was that of heterosexual men in a naked nightclub where they prowled on the few females who entered to the extent that they ended up leaving. You don’t see it that often because there are few enclosed places where adult men and women are naked together, and this is probably what makes their behaviour so predatory when it does happen. In my experience, gay men generally have a more relaxed attitude to sex and nudity. It is sad that you can’t go to these clothing optional gay male resorts and get naked without some guys assuming that you being undressed means you want to have sex with them. If you’re not prepared for that possibility, you’re likely to end up having an unhappy experience.

Oh yeah i would get naked there!

I have no problem with the idea of public nudity, because like Davey said, I think the nudist philosophy is really beautiful. However, I don’t have enough confidence to get naked with anybody except some close friends. I would be afraid of having people judge me in any other situation, but I feel ccmffortable with my friends.

I might, but then again sitting there completely surrounded by naked guys would probably leave me with an all day hard-on, and Davey, youre nipples were so hard during that video

Hey there, absolutely, no problem going naked! I can recall a few years ago going to my first clothing optional campground here in Ontario and thinking it would be a very sexually charged experience. I think that the first few times were very sexually charged, however, after a while, I learned to understand the freedom and acceptance created and supported by being naked even with other naked gay men and I don’t even hesitate anymore, I don’t think about it; I just do it and enjoy it!!

Oh my god were you the one in Life In a Day who came out to his grandma? If so I just had to say that that was one of the few scenes that made me cry. You’re great either way. Much love, J.
