The spiders are probably huntsmen, they hunt hunky american men…just kidding, they are harmelss. Ugly looking and hairy but harmelss. Just wait until one crawls into your bed…or across your face at night.
Hahahahaaaa.
You do know you can’t take any of the wildlife and that includes the guy in your closet with you.
dont make the mistake i made-while perusing the beach in Santa Monica California and Venice Beach.i met a guy(bloke)and mistakenly assumed he was from Britain-not so-he was from NSW-Australia.on the other hand i met a guy on the Santa Monica Pier-couldnt place where hes from turns out he was from The Midlands-as in Manchester-as in U.K.boy did i feel embarassed.when conversing with a stranger-pay particular attention to the guy youre talking to.although no offence taken in both encounters-for me-it was one humbling experience.
Seriously! I can understand not being able to completely distinguish an Aussie accent and a Kiwi accent (about which all the Aussies and Kiwis are now laughing their asses off because they seem to think there’s a vast difference) but Aussie and UK? Huge difference!
Just wait til you encounter a South African accent Davey! Far more rare and difficult to place.
Ah South Africa or Suid-Afrika-i know two Lesbian Women from this place-thats one hard place to pick out.what with the World Cup-2010 Football/Soccer coming up this summer-by then-we should all know the difference.i hope.
Thanks for all you do to let us experience what some can not. I have never thought of going to australia but now im curious to go there. Who is your closet buddy?
I work at Home Depot under the flight path into LAX and I work 2pm to 11pm…. My car got stolen twice from that same parking lot… The bus at night runs one an hour… it was foggy…. It lets us off about 2 miles away from my house….. I walk it, no skate board….. I stop at 24 Hour fitness get into the hot tub….. Get out with my suit in my hand… Never could understand the concept of those things… The swim suite that is… log into BreakTheIllusion to see D.W. see the powder snow turn to powder sand…. A toilet (No flush swerl confirmation just the less and lesser buttons)… And how YouTube sucks…. Take that camera to the streets, to the gym, to the sea I say!!!!!! Your vacation has ended you are a reporter dam it!!! Heres what you do make people pay for the cable version of your trip!!!!! tease the hell out of us and for $5.00 USD (U.S. Dollars)we get the trillion dollar trip and with no drugs required other than the paterns and voices coming from down yaunder…. I got my credit card ready!!!!! ~Tim
You’re so cute finding everything exciting in Oz, I was there when you arrived. The weather wasn’t that good…. boys are gorgeous!….. if you think that is gay, wait until Mardi Gras…. it is amazing! Hope you enjoy your time in Sydney, I love it, I’m actually living in Auckland, N.Z. planning to move there for a while. About the diference between English and Australian accent, there is a BIG gap!!! hellooooo you will learn soon xxx
I’m a long time listener and reader and proud to be a Sydneysider!
I’m glad you’re enjoying my home town! It’s exciting to see pictures of Sydney as I haven’t been home in over a year, I am living far, far north in Queensland, where the Great Barrier Reef is.
I hope you get to experience some of “the bush” out West of Sydney on your trip, as there is plenty of beautiful bushwalking and outdoor day trips you could do such as up in the Blue Mountains! There’s more then spiders to fear out that way though, you might encounter snakes or the infamous Drop Bear!
Thx DW. My cousin moved from The U.S. to Melbourne yrs ago. Never to return. He is gay and LOVES it there. He has an Aussie accent now. Sndz like he was born there. He met his life partner there also. He went to sign up for dancing lessons and had the choice of a guy or girl instructor. Well he ended up falling in love/partnering with one of the champion ballroom dancers of OZ!
I have not visited them because of finances. Thx for filling in the blanks. Although my cousin lived all over the world…I never quite understood the allure of OZ. Why my cousin chose to make it his home. It does look like fun. Now I understand his choice. You should show your viewers their currency. It’s wild how you can see through their bills with different colored “plastic” windows integrated into the bill. Thanks for the glimpse into my cousin’s world. Xoxoxo Jeff
i am ambivalent. you are such a sissy, but you are beautiful to look at at. good luck in australia. next, you should visit mexico, central, and south america. the men are ricos and picantes.
Really? Between English and Aussie accents? I suppose as a Scot I see a huge difference… Just get an Aussie to say “Ya great Galar”. Funniest thing in the world.
Hey Davey!
I’m so glad you got to see the bats fly over Taylor Square, aren’t they a sight, the sky almost goes black with them. After 30 years of living under the (bat) flight path I can not help but look up at dusk. The only thing is I have never seen them fly in the other direction!!!!!
I’m happy that you are enjoying my home town and I hope you have only positive experiances.
The interest in dual flush toilet cisterns suprises me, don’t they have them in the states? we’ve had them for yonks, it’s the law now. Before that the rule was ‘If it’s yellow let it mellow, if it’s brown send it down’
I’m only 2 blocks from you, wanna come for a BBQ on the weekend? Meet some cool mates of mine (lotsa fun people and spunky too) xx
You looked very cool and relaxed Davey. So what’s new about a toilet with long or short flushes? And you can’t tell the difference between an Ozzie accent and a Brit one! Perhaps your ears popped on the flight and haven’t recovered yet.
Loved the lilac briefs – we never see sign of a bush; are you trimmed or shaved? Or still waiting?
Was that Scotty with you? Great if it was – do tell.
Keep giving us the news with lots of talky blogs and piccys.
We have those dual flush toilets in new buildings in Boston. They are the way to go. Of course people in Vermont and Maine have been handling water conservation by only flushing for pee after a lot has accumulated. I guess someone should do research on which approach conserves more water.
Good to see you looking so well down under. Interesting that you are only now getting to discern the difference between UK and Aussie accents. I suspect they are about as different as New Jersey and the UK, or as between Maine and South Carolina. Anyway, it is good to know that it is warm and absent snow somewhere. If you want to avoid cold and snow, this surely was the time to go down under. Enjoy!!
BTW, Davey, I just heard an NPR report from VT that said that this was going to be a great SKI year. Apparently the fact that it has snowed both in Northern New England AND as far south as Virginia has a whole lot of people in the northeast and mid-Atlantic states making their way to VT, NH & ME. And, even the Blue Hills Ski area parking lot is full these days, having gotten another 12-13″ of the white stuff a few days ago. Of course their machines are making snow thru the night whenever the snow melts.
Lastly, I think you should do all your talkies in briefs!! Keep up the great work!
Just to complicate things, there are many English accents. Also true for Irish. My mother’s Irish accent, completely Irish, was often taken for one of the English posh accents, even by the English. And in many places in the US my accent, formed growing up in New York, was mistaken for Canadian.
So unless you grow up with many accents they may be hard to distinguish. I can even tell the difference in Spanish accents even though I cannot speak Spanish. Grew up with them all around me.
Of course you have been there only 2 days and already found a cute guy—yeah!!! (obviously not Scotty D, who is in school back in Toronto)–now we need to see the new cutie in a Talky Blog (ah–memories of Colin’s first appearance in South America!!!)
Davey – everything including you looks great, sweet briefs, need to see you in a pair of Aussie Bums too, did your cute aussie come out of the closet ?
Davey – you need to go to Palm Beach you will love it there. They film ‘Home and Away’ there if you have ever heard of the show. At one end there is a light house which you can walk up to and has an amazing view.
All you need to do is get the L90 bus heading out of the city to the last stop which is palm beach.
yay nick’s there so you can experience the fun of australia together i didnt think you could be away from him for that long anyway im glad you’re having a good time my cherish is down under aswell

ok-there is a large difference in speech between an Aussie and Brit.an Aussie has for the most part-speaking with an English accent-the very large difference is-he or she holds their nose-the Aussie-speaks in primarly nasal tones-might have something to do with blowflies in Oz.——Aussie slang-thats a completely different subject.
