It is even worse in NYC. “Rentboy.com” has a float and I swear more participants are in underwear ONLY vs. typical street-wear. Hey, I think we have a lot to be proud of and should celebrate, but are we sending the right message if our goal is broader acceptance? As for this gay man, running around in underwear and “renting” boys isn’t part of who I am – nor is it for many/most of my gay friends/acquantinces. We end up looking like slutty whores. I’ve come to hate gay-pride events and will like them more when they have more diversity in them. Just one gay-guy’s opinion.

Aren’t you a prized intelligence, very astute observation, correct in your perception of what’s going on there. I agree with you whole heartedly. we gain acceptance and tolerance because we have something to sell??? 1% business proposition and the 99% consumer demand equals liberation of the group, I don’t think so! Davey-Wavey didn’t dress-down[to a speed-o] nor did he march to the tune of that drummer, and it is good! Emphasize the diversities please, one condom doesn’t fit all! thank you, you have my vote!

Pride has become so commercial that we forget what it’s all about. This year in Minneapolis we had a booth that was selling 400 count sheets. Yes, bed linens. (And no they were not a “gay company”)
I may have gone to my last Pride celebration.

It’s true. It’s reaching a critical mass. But, I will still support Pride celebrations. You can’t deny the importance of corporate America. In the long run, their influence, along with our “pink” dollars will win out. I can only hope so. Peace.

Wow that festival looked great! I wish Icould go to one someday. For some reason Toronto seems more accepting of LGTB people than other places. I dont know, maybe it’s just from my point of view. I felt Scotty’s music tied everything together and that Colin was super cute!

I went to Pride Parade here in Chicago. It was probably one of the best days of my life. It’s just so so amazing! People can just be themselves without having to worry about insult or ridicule. It’s just phenomenal, really. <33
