It’s a beautiful morning in Toronto. Today’s quote read:
The components of anxiety, stress, fear, and anger
do not exist independently of you in the world. They simply do not
exist in the physical world, even though we talk about them as if
they do.
Dr Wayne Dyer
Meanwhile, I clicked to CNN to see that Bush is beating the war drums again and the airport security believes the recent airport incidents may be terror dry runs. At the gym, I lady in Canada talked about how her community is living in fear because a murderer is believed to be hiding in the area. She talked about how kids no longer play outside and people have stopped gardening and cutting their grass.
Conflict, fear and all the other “negatives” in the world can’t exist without your participation.
Fear isn’t out there. It’s something inside you. And, depending on how you interpret the world around you, you have the power to turn fear off. Just change your mindset. Whenever I start to feel “worry” creeping up in my life I ask myself, “Can I control this situation?” If the answer is yes, then there is nothing to fear because I am handling the situation. If the answer is no, well, then there is nothing to fear because there’s nothing I can do about it and worrying won’t change that.
There’s nothing I can do to stop terrorism or murderers. It’s not in my hands. Worrying about terror or living in fear won’t change anything – except increase my risk of heart disease and stroke. Sure, you can take steps to minimize your risk. But live in fear? That’s not an option I’ll exercise.
