Detachment: Trusting in the Universe

Detachment is a state, it is not a totalisation of achieved indifferences. Wei Wu Wei, “Fingers Pointing to the Moon”

Being attached isn’t about not caring. It’s about trusting in the universe. It’s about knowing that things will be best, no matter the outcome. It’s about recognizing that we, as humans, have limited scope. The universe exists outside the bounds of time. It can see beyond our limitations. We are blinded by our perceptions. What we think is best, may not be best.

For example, you may be fired from your job. Don’t struggle. It is probably because there is something else that you should be doing instead–something that will help you fulfill your dreams and desires.

Do not be attached. Trust in the universe. Life is beautiful; let it unfold and bloom.

  1. “Do not be attached. Trust in the universe. Life is beautiful; let it unfold and bloom.”

beautiful sentence. Once in math class I was bored, so I just started drawing, what started as me tracing half a cylinder turned into a little bed of flowers. I made the flowers all wavy and bursting from their container and I wrote something to accompany the drawing it was “See the life spring forth from these wild flowers, see them dance”

What you said reminded me of that drawing, I think that’s what I was trying to tell myself when I drew it.

  2. You must like a lot of Hindu beliefs and ideas.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but Hindus believe that a spirit in it’s thinking is incredibly limited especially in understanding what a god could be like,

“It’s about recognizing that we, as humans, have limited scope.”

I believe that they also think of the body(and their reincarnated lives) as merely masks in a grand play that is spiritual development leading to a point of enlightenment. The only way to that enlightenment is not focusing on anything material or worldly but focusing inward on one’s spirit to obtain life’s meaning,

.. i cant find a quote in this particular post to use but yes.. you often talking about observing one’s self
