eye-melt sandwiches with fries.

I had a delightful and unexpected surprise yesterday: when I came home from work, our internet connection was down.

There is nothing better than unconnected in this connected age. At first, I didn’t realize the wonderful implications of this unexpected situation. But, as soon as I realized that it meant a night free from IMs, emails and website projects, I surrendered to the excitement. I made a trip to Whole Foods, bought some sushi, my favorite Naked Juice, and a little tub of sorbet. What a night!

I ate my sushi, cooked a bison burger and watched an episode of Family Guy. Then, I read my book! It was so nice touching the paper pages and not experiencing what I call “eye-melt.” What is eye-melt? No, it’s not a sandwich. It’s what occurs when you spend 7 hours at work concentrating on a computer screen and come home to read emails and work on computer projects. It’s when your eyes feel like they are very literally melting. It’s kinda how my eyes feel right now, actually. Some day I bet they’ll find out that computer screens cause eye cancer, or something.

Anyway, I even made time to meditate and relax completely. It was wicked nice. Anyway, I hope you have the good fortune of experiencing a server crash in your near future as well.
