some of my favorite haiku’s… translated into English:
the ancient pond
a frog jumps in
plop
Our life is a brief blip in the ancient universe. Silence then your life, then silence again.
summer grasses
all that remains
of soldiers’ dreams
War is foolish. Dreams of conquest and triumph mean little in the the cycles of life and nature. They are unimportant and certainly not worth dying for. Soldiers die for their dreams, and their bodies fertilize the soil and summer grasses grow. Ironically, nature’s the true winner.
the crow has flown away
swaying in the evening sun,
a leafless tree
The body is just the temporary form that you’ll take for a short period of time so that you can observe your true self – the universe – in your own unique way.
