the kois.

The kois are done! So, the canvas is 4 feet by 4 feet and I used a combination of oil and ink to create it. The kois are actually swimming around a perfect 34″ circle. The flippers and the thickness of the kois’ upper body makes the circle appear oval. You can follow the perfect circle through the center of the kois’ face and along the fin line.

I hung it up over the bed, and moved my buddha painting to our little sitting area. My apartment is turning into some sort of art gallery. But like, I just love the act of creation. Some day, I think I’ll sell my paintings for a living. It might not be for a while, but some day I will. Maybe when I’m old and retired.

During yoga class today, my yoga card said something about life speaking to me through doors that I least expect. Today was a pretty rough day at work, so I’m going to keep myself open to the lessons that it is teaching me. I know how important it is not to sweat the small stuff. And I’m going to try to live it. We also talked a lot about moving the office. I’m going to be open to the change, and know that it will be for the better – even if it means a longer walk or taking the metro. Resisting change is resisting life. I’m open and receptive.
