worry warts.

I just read the best, most hilarious article. It was about how we, as Americans, are incredibly irrational when it comes to worrying. I think that worrying is irrational, period. But if you’re going to worry, I guess you should worry about the right things.

The article pointed out how Americans won’t buy Spinach because they are worried about ecoli–but we’ll buy fried food and junk food even though 700,000 people die from high cholesterol a year. Or, how we worry about terrorist attacks, yet 20% of us don’t wear seat belts while driving a car. We buy air and water purifiers, yet 2/3 of us are obese.

It’s just so funny. It seems to me we worry about the things we couldn’t control, and don’t worry about and neglect the things which are within our control. Like getting physically fit, putting on a seat belt, or not talking on a cell phone while driving. Anyway, I’m over worrying. It just gives people more and more stress and doesn’t accomplish anything. So really, it’s not only irrational that we worry about the wrong things, it’s irrational that we even worry at all.

Oh yeah, and here’s the article: http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/11/26/cover.story.tm/index.html
